Main Story Rewards?

Post » Sat Jul 23, 2011 7:44 am

I've noticed not that many people care for the Main Story line in TES games. How about something to change that.? Say you get a Great reward to help you do anything you want.? Not like the Armor at the end of oblivion, Say a mount. I know its a Step into uncharted territory, But say a flying one, Maybe one to go along the Path of a Nord Origins, *Since they can throw people back with a shout*<---Children of the sky. But something along that lines to at least give people a reason better than armor, to actually Complete the main story line. Comment with your thoughts.:)

Well, I don't really want them to do this, but one way is to punish the player for not completing the main quest in a timely fashion. For example if you wanted Oblivion players to hurry up with the MQ, slowly have Oblivion gates pop up everywhere, so much so that there is not a single point in the map in which the sky isn't red and the battle music isn't playing.

If that's not incentive enough, I don't know what is.

You find new joinable factions once the main quest is complete? I haven't even touched the main quest on OB since I left sewers...

I don't know about flying mounts... maybe if we didn't have fast travel?
i'm sure someone will mod it so u can ride a dragon.

anyways back to the topic. I agree, I just went through the Oblivion MQ last month and I was like... armor... uh.. cool?

There should be like a choice. at the end, similar to fable 2 choices at the end,

instead of a one item for all roles.

Indeed. Even the initiation into the Mages Guild provides a choice. And the armor you get is Heavy Armor, meaning it's absolutely useless for mages or stealth-based characters. Besides the achievement on consoles, there's no real reason to even start the MQ.

Whoa, someones passionate.

I don't think there should be a main story reward. Perhaps there should be artifacts that you obtain on the way to completing the main story but I wouldn't go off and say that you need to be given a congratulation prize for completing the main plot of the game.

BUT Flying would be useful to those Pesky Undiscovered Locations that takes 15 mins to get to.<--Unless your a Fast as F*** Khajitt. But Something As a reward. Yeah. Maybe a choice or something....Weapon of choice...Nah, Some people may wanna punch a fat dragon...

Artifacts for what exactly.? Oddly enough i like the idea....Artifacts to sell or collect.? But still if all i would get is some "collectibles" I wouldnt even think of doing the MQ. Something to MAKE people wanna do it..

In Oblivion You get the Armour Of The Imperial Dragon. It's totally worthless and when I recieved it after dozens of hours of gameplay, I dropped to my knees and said

I'm not really sure they need incentive to.. play the game. I really liked the Main quest in Morrowind, along with Tribunal and Bloodmoon, plus the Shivering Isles. And while I didn't enjoy the Main quest in Oblivion as much, I still played it because.. well that's what I bought the game for, to play it. If you don't want to do the main quest, that's your decision, but I don't see why they would need incentive for you to do it. I'll be playing just for the gameplay, and to see the story of the main quest. Seems like enough incentive to me.

Well in Oblivion, Martin had you retrieve crazy stuff like the armor of Tiber Septim as well as one daedric artifacts. Sadly, these things were sacrificed in order to open up a gate to Mankar's Oblivion plane.

If we -- Perhaps like the thieves guid quest where they have you collect artifacts like the boots of spring heel jack to complete the big heist or even like Morrowind when you need sunder, keening and wraithguard to destroy the heart, perhaps they'll be needed to complete Skyrim's mainquest.

Yeah it was hard for me to try to motivate myself to do all the things for the emperor and Martin. I thought more " Alright well that's cool, but I am gonna do what I wanna do first". So he died right in front of me okay, but that doesn't really give me the sense "alright it's time to save the world". I hope Skyrim tries harder to put you personally involved with the story instead of just throwing you in like in Oblivion.

Well I think it should be detatched a bit so we can freely RP

So I think it would be best to not throw you into the Main Quest like OB, but once you are pretty far into it, you get really svcked in.

I just hope we don't -have- to do the MQ alot to make dragons start flying around.

I've never quite understood why people are so averse to doing the main quest. It's not like the game ends after it's over, and it's not like you have to do it all in one sitting. I always did a little here, did a little there, in between sidequests and dungeon crawls.
