Main worries about Brink 2

Post » Tue Dec 29, 2009 4:03 pm

They said no going back, replaying anything, 10 hours of gameplay on both campaigns. That kinda worries me.

Where did they say you couldn't go back and replay a map?

Anyway, my biggest worry is that people will try their very hardest to play Brink exactly as they played MW2 and other very un-Brink-like shooters. Brink itself will be fantastic, of that I have no doubt. It is the community that I worry about. The people that, despite all of SD's work against them, will be total jerks just to ruin it for the rest of us.

However, I'm not even all that worried about that, to be honest. The better a game is designed the more well-behaved the players seem to be, and Brink looks to be very well designed indeed. I do think that perhaps some matchmaking search options (yes, like Halo Reach) should be put in to separate the super competitive from the dudes that just like to chillax, if something along those lines isn't in place already. :goodjob:

I completely agree. Imho: There is no "I" in a team. I rather revive 3 people and die than kill 1 and then also die.
I'm not worried about maps and locations, as long as they have a good balance between offense and defense.

Another note: Why shouldn't they make variations on maps?
Let's take container city as example: The security managed to get the bomb/medicine/... from the container they breached, but to keep the resistance from hiding things, they have also set-up a command post with a small garrison. The Resistance don't want this and have to destroy the CP by blowing up the main power-generator and ammunition depot. This would increase the credibility of the story and doesn't take as much time for the devs to make, when you compare to making a complete new environment.

when they said variation maps i think they meant maps that are basically copies of each other except for minor details

Since the first version of this topic got locked for post limits I will open it back up for discussion now that we have some more info on Brink.

My main worry has to be the eventual perfect build people will make for all classes. Some of the creativity in choosing skills and making your character truly different might be clouded by the discovery of the "Perfect Offense Soldier" ability and exp expenditure. I hope with the extra time they are developing this game for they use it to truly balance the game so no one has a huge advantage coming out of the gates.

I'm worried that every mission will be the same, and I'm also worried that on a PvP match people on the same team will argue over who gets to do the highest EXP task on the wheel.

Worried that there will be a pre-quel or sequal named "Brink 2".

1. About the camp vs run/gun:

Heavies are suited for base camping. Lights are suited for charging in with an SMG.

Heavies are suited for marching in to bases with a shotgun and heavy machine gun. Lights are suited for sniping from a high place.

Me? I think I'll go medium. Lots of options for movement and weapons.

2. In the Source mod Dystopia, you can be light, medium or heavy. Lights and heavies are very, mediums are middle ground. (Heavies do have some overpowered weapons though.) The game works. It's fun, I like the bodytypes.

3. I'm worried about the community, just like everyone else. Also, my laptop might not be powerful enough to run Brink.

if everyone is worried about the community, big chance it'll work out.
i myself chose to join a clan, gives me a much bigger chance of ending up in a good team

Well, maybe for the campaign only. There's a "free mode" (or something) that acts like a normal MP menu. You choose which map you want to play, then you play. No story or anything.

I just hope theres a mute button on players, little kids singing or spamming their mics gets annoying. so plz make a mute option, maybe even a way to keep voices at a low level, the high pitched voices kill my ears...

Yes, it's on by default. And you can still tell when someone needs something though because the characters have voices to shout things.

I just hope that's not spammable like in TF2 because, after a while, it'll just be a case of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf", and the functions will just be useless.

I believe the auto-pvssyr is not under player control, but rather context sensitive. If you're down you'll call for a Medic. If you're out of ammo you'll call for a Soldier. I'm not sure what else your guy can call out, but from what I've seen there's no button on the controller for making your guy say stuff. Not sure about PC.

To those of you worried about base camping, SD is doing everything they can to prevent it. Even to the point of putting very strong, indestructible turrets at bases. And before you start being afraid that you may walk near one on accident, they have said that the game will automatically warn you if you are getting too close to the enemy spawn.

I'm just scared that it will get BC2'd. In other words I'm scared that a bunch of MW2 [censored] (and I mean that in the South Park sense) will come and screw up the whole idea of the game making it a free-for-all-who-can-get-the-most-kills game.

I doubt that. That contradicts almost the entire goal of the game.

You don't get hardly any experience for being a lone-wolf. You're far more likely to die and/or run out of ammo when running lone-wolf. I'm not even sure if they have basic Team-Deathmatch style games, and free-for-all is definitely out of the question. They won't have fun and they'll probably put the game down. I'm not too worried about this.

I would assume they would martch in with Shotguns,LMG/Minigun, or grenade launchers. Best would be all three.

Woe on me for not knowing that he wants female characters in the sequel to the game that isn't out yet

or

Woe on him for not knowing what I said.

He actually means this coming up game, the thread title threw the newbie for a loop. Its supposed to be read "Main worries about brink part 2" but he read "Main worries about 'Brink 2' "

and I'm pretty sure that Nicto was commenting on your inability to understand fox's engrish.

Either way, I am disappointment in all of you're grammar
