Major Bug Issues PS3

Post » Mon Jun 14, 2010 8:41 pm

So I read through the rest of the posts trying to find a way to fix my issues and since no one seems to be having major issues outside of freezing and the occasional glitch, I'm starting this in the hopes that Bethesda will do something about it quickly.

1) Mod of the Weathered 10mm Pistol - I attached a silencer to the weapon after purchasing the silencer from a shop. I attached it and when I go to use the weapon, the screen changes into 3 shades of translucent colors and the gun is not in my hand (hand still appears). Not only can I not see to target with the weapon, but the VATS doesnt work. I can fire the gun but with no site or crosshairs, its impossible to aim. I've tried saving, sleeping, giving it time, and nothing works.

2) About 58 hours in and at Helios One - Regarless of the weapon (I left the weathered 10mm pistol), everytime I try to site my weapon, I get the computer screen thats blank with the orange light in the right hand corner. This appears when I try to site the weapon, pick a lock, or interact with anything that pulls up a cut screen. This is seperate from the in game computer terminals that are only working 50% of the time and when they do show the text/interaction, the light that shines across the screen as an element of the background is now too bright for me to read the text that falls under the "glare". This doesnt apply just to this area, its on any computer terminal across the world. So now it is nearly impossible for me to play the game as it was intended and the only significant save I have to fall back on is 15 hours old. I think you'll agree that this is a BIG problem.

3) Freeze issues - The game severly lags when it is transitioning enviromental changes, such as day to night or rendering the landscape. If I dont take my fingers off the controls immediately, the game locks up and I have to restart my PS3. This seems to be from a combination of issues, but most commonly the freezing occurs when the PS3 gets to hot, the other times its a definate side effect of the game rendering too much.

There are numerous other issues that seem to be normal glitches or bugs, but at this point I have to wonder why this game was rushed into release with so many significant issues that directly effect the game play. I dont know how the testers play with the games or what "paces" they put it though, but it seems like the person in charge of testing needs to be fired. I understand the need to get the game to market and address the minor issues as they come in, but these are major game play issues that have seriously tarnished the game play and repuation of the franchise. Bethesda would be best served by announcing the errors, owning and taking responsiblity for them, and possibly making amends with players by offering a free DLC when its released, instead of just dismissing it a common occurance.

I know problems arise, but there are way too many issues to let it slide as a "common glitch". These are major issues and I would be embarssed to not only put out a product that is obviously inferior, but then to keep the community and millions of users in the dark about patches just seems wrong on so many levels. The bugs and glitches that kill game play frustrate your players to no end and if the player hasnt stopped playing, they have most definately lost the momentum to continue playing the game.

Between the marketing and PR issues that have come out of this, I'll pretty much guarantee that the next title released will have a very low sale rate. So to the forum staff at Bethesda, when the company is ready to hire a marketing professional to put out all the fires and help save face, tell them to give me a call...

I can't offer any solutions to your problems, I thought I'd mention similar glitches I've had.

I had a glitch after buying the antimaterial rifle, when using the telescopic sight on any weapon with one fitted it corrupted the view with big pink triangles converging on the aim point. Luckily enough a reboot fixed it, I've also had the lock display on the lockpick screen disappear making it almost impossible to pick. As for the "glare" on computer screens, try switching the pipboy light off, sometimes my pipboy screen is completely unreadable with the light on, it never effected the terminals in my game but I thought it worth mentioning.

the bugs ive found so far besides having the game freeze up on me all the time include not being able to get a key or to finish the "Hard luck blues" quest and 2nd the quest "Aba Daba honeymoon" the game wont display a dialog option for Diane when you return from the drug delivery quest to turn it in at the Red Rock Drug Lab so you cant finish the quest.

To be honest it really doesn't matter what Bethesda do at this stage. Personally I'd be quite content if they just patched the game, I don't care about free DLC. But the fact of the matter is they've released a game that is utterly broken in it's original (unpatched) state, and they are going to continue to sell it. Now for you and me, that's a pain in the butt up until the point where the game get's patched. But for people, who for whatever reason, don't have access to the patches it's more like being robbed.

The worst part is there's absolutely nothing that we can do about it to my knowledge. And Bethesda certainly wont do anything about it any time soon. Nah, the earliest point we can expect to buy a working copy of New Vegas is when the Game Of The Year edition is released. Probably about a year from now. It's pretty galling to think about actually, because you just know that they're going to release one.. bold as brass.. as if this game actually deserves a GOTY award.

Whoever the final decision to release this game fell down to is a criminal as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not sure about #1 because I never tried to mod the Weathered 10mm. #2 is extremely detailed, and though I have had similar problems to some of the things you described, it was nothing a reload didn't fix. As for your #3 glitch, I have (as I am sure every person who owns this game) experienced this so many times it makes me want to cry; I also make sure I let go of the controls asap in order to attempt to avoid a freeze. I have personally found that listening to a radio station greatly increases the frequency of freezes... which is really depressing since the soundtrack for Radio New Vegas is really good and now I keep it turned off all the time. I am hoping for another patch soon.

It would be marvelous if Bethesda was nice enough to provide a free DLC of some kind (something more substantial than a gun or armour), but I am highly doubtful of such a thing ever happening.

This is not a game breaking glitch but it is one that is extremely irritating. In Freeside, at the store "Mick and Ralphs" when I speek to either of them and try to buy something, it goes straight to the dialogue as if I have just left the "Buy or Sell" mini menu and does not open the "Buy or Sell" mini menu. Also, I'm not sure if this is a glitch but when I try to get in "The Strip" through the North gate it says "Key Required" and the monorail has been destroyed so that is the only way in. I have bought the counterfeit passport from "Mick and Ralphs" (before it started to glitch") and have been in before. A "Freeside thug" tried to attack me once I fast travelled to the north gate and since then I cannot get in. If this is a glitch with no way to solve it, then it is literally game breaking as I need to get in "The Strip".Plus, there is the constant freezing and around "Nelson" seems to be the worst area for the game freezing.
