There is no way the Bethesda Game Studios employees are going to port Fallout 4 to a new video game engine.

The version of the Creation Engine that Fallout 4 runs on has improvements anyways that all other Bethesda Game Studios developed video games did not have before like DirectX 11 support, support for a 64-bit .exe, support for Physically Based Rendering (PBR), support for volumetric lighting, and Tessellation.

While I agree that it might be nice to have a new game engine, please Beth, don't ever change your art style. Please don't make your game look like every other crappy RPG out there with their "Ultimate Cinematic" view.

Realism is one thing, but true art direction that actually works with the story is what Beth is good at.

Fallout is all about browns, greys, yellows and muted tones. It's post-apocalyptic for goodness sake.

Skyrim is all out the natural colors in a natural world.

Even Oblivion with it's weird colours fits in the context.

Don't listen to these haters. You're doing fine and we (or I) love you for it.

The engine is Beth's moneymaker and they like to shake it. The game graphic improves greatly between each game. I'm sure Elder Scrolls will look even better than Fallout 4 with the advancement of technology. Plus, a big open world game like this with extremely high graphic would burn all consoles and most low and middle end PC out there, leaving only high end PC which I doubt is that many people, and I can't even imagine the load time. The engine is fine as it is for now. I actually like the art style of the game, the graphic is pretty good for what it is.

Even TES:O looks like an improvement, graphically, compared to past TES games (at least, when you look at the natural environments).

The graphics have evolved nicely from FO3 actually. The thing they need to work on next is improving some of the things that HAVEN'T changed, like how ridiculously bodies are picked up.

I'd MUCH rather have the protagonist throw a body over his/her shoulder, and automatically switch to 3rd person view, than have this invisible-contact, puppeteer levitation act going on, which is far too slow as well.

Larger, heavier bodies like Mirelurkers, would use a 3rd person drag animation, which would be a bit slower. And for God's sake, let corpses actually STAY where we put them Bethseda! Otherwise it's pointless to even be able to move them.

Graphics in the span of the several years it takes between main installments will continue to evolve, and they need to do so at a pace that can still handle all the content thrown in without the game bogging down in frame rate.

Some things appear to be stuck in the stone ages though, and they obviously need better play testing and bug fixing pre launch.

I'll just take this opportunity to say... Bethesda's never going to change the engine on an existing game, and if their next game has a new engine, it's going to be Creation 2, not the latest Source or CryEngine or Unreal or idTech or whatever. Their art style, even in Skyrim, has always been more dramatic than photo-realistic (and Fallout 4 in particular seems to be inspired by things like comic books, or animation like the Iron Giant) which I think is better. And I super hope that they release an official HD texture pack for PC like they did for Skyrim - I think most of the graphics complaints are because the textures are only okay, but IMO the lighting, effects, and art direction is some of the best I've ever seen. And I know this isn't just about Fallout, but physical-based rendering is so cool. I think that's going to define what this gen's games look like, and I love it.

While I'm talking about graphics, I know the dynamic shadows are another source of complaints. How do the shadows look in other games that have 100% dynamic lights? In games like Mass Effect, the scene never changes, so, I mean, those games had freaking better have good shadows. I should, uh, research how modern video-games implement lighting.

Actually I'm impressed with how much non-vats combat has improved.

I really..really...really...loved Fallout 3 but mechanics are much improved imho.

After seeing another (rather incoherant) thread by the same OP I have come to the conclusion that this "person" "should not be fed". ;)

I always figured the main, and possibly 'only' reason we're able to move bodies in FO/TES is to loot what might be hidden underneath... in most cases, another body. Unlike MGS, where taking the time to move a body out of sight is justified because the NPC's go on high alert when they spot a dead ally...

As the AI doesn't respond much to dead allies in FO/TES... I don't feel like it's that important to have an animation for moving dead bodies. Its not really immersion breaking, or needed for balance purposes.

I don't think any game is 100% dynamic but check out Dying light. (The flash light is very well done, other light sources too) and believe it or not , in ARK, the sky lighting (moon and stars) is dynamic which is rare.

Fallout has its own art style and it took me a while before I could get into FO3. But once I understood its intent, I was hooked. Vanilla FO4 looks fine. The things that needed to improve I already fixed. It's amazing what a nice ENB preset, weather mod, darker nights mod, landscape textures, body replacer and armors, and seasons mod can do to this game (of course, you need have the right hardware to handle it). Now my FO4 game is jaw-dropping amazing and sometime I just stand there to admire the environment.
