It seems that no matter how well I defend my settlements, if they are attacked and I'm not there, my settlers get their sh*t ruined. I build a lot of walls on all sides, put up turrets and guard posts.... doesnt seem to matter.

This svcks, apparently I should just forget putting any effort into building my settlements, just put down enough turrets to meet the food+water total and then forget the rest.
