gamesas can't make Fallout Online for consoles unless Bethesda lets them. System specifications haven't been revealed yet for the game but if it's scalable you might not need a super computer to run it.

I seriously disagree with you, Fallout Online should remain online. Like the person above me said they would need permission to put it on the console and in my opinion I wouldn't say Bethesda and gamesas are on "good" terms with each other. Also, the PS3? Lets not start console wars here but from what I've read and with my own experience, Fallout 3 was a lot less buggier than the PS3. Now remember this is from what I've read and I have experienced. If for some reason Fallout Online did come to the consoles, I would think it would come to the Xbox 360 if not both consoles (PS3). And just a little personal message, I'm purchasing a brand new computer just for this game lol :D . I think I might go with a iMac, but I really have to see the system requirements first. Wow this is a long post.. I'll just end it here. ;) "America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and loose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

nar pls dont make it for consoles. every time there is a game made to work for consoles the PC version gets dimmed down. YUCK. plus no matter what if you make it console all the console noobs will cry for getting owned by the PC pros. this is the reason i can't play against the the x box players in MW2.

I'd be cool with having console gamers in the Fallout universe so long as they don't enable a voice chat. I can get along and play with the kiddies so long as I don't have to LISTEN to them.

If it was for the consoles (say, the xbox?), and there was a monthly fee to Fallout Online. Would you still pay for Xbox LIVE and Fallout Online?

I prefer to have MMO's on the PC/Mac for a couple of reasons:

1. The user interface is much more friendlier on a computer, whereas on a console you would have to move an anolog stick or D-pad. Dragon Age Origins did the radial menu on the 360 and PS3 to choose spells/abilities, but it was just so tedious.

2. Mods, even though mods will probably be banned on Fallout Online. But modding communities keep games strong.

3. Hard to do micro-payments on a console. Easier to put content on the main site than having to put it through PSN or the Xbox Marketplace.

I do find patching on consoles is easier, since it tells me when i start the game lol.

First off, PC-console games - yuck!
Ironically fallout is one of the 2 games that made me drop the vast majority of my interest in consoles and their games.

However, to put a quick nail in the coffin I am almost positive that Bethesda disallowed gamesas from releasing FO-online on any consoles so its probably not going to happen unless the terms are amended.

Fallout Online is PC only at this time. (I'm hoping we do a Mac version, too... and Linux... but that's my personal feeling and not company policy.)

I agree you should go Windows and Mac for best profit, and Linux if it is affordable. However I would rather see Windows and Linux be the priority and Mac be a maybe.

Question: Chris, do you think Fallout Online is the type of game that almost every Linux user would run to because there are so few Linux games of this caliber?

There are many many Linux users i bet. If you can deliver Fallout Online for the Linux Platform, that means everyone with just the proper hardware, could install a free linux OS and jump into fallout online with a couple hundred dollars more.. but minus the cost of the game too. Still it factors out quite nicely I imagine?

Special thanks to you Chris! I will probably install Linux in a virtual machine for the hell of it today. (vmware workstation?)

I'm fairly platform agnostic. I use whatever gets the job done.(1) So, personally, I think Linux users that like post-apocalyptic MMOs would be the ones to install our game... ^_^

(1) Actually, that's not true. I hate computers. Darn things are always doing what I tell them, and not what I want.(2) I'd still be using my Apple //e, if I could get away with it. I have been known to open up an Apple emulator and writing some quick basic instead of using Python or Excel.

dont make it for consoles. fallout 1 & 2 have there originality on the computer. if they where to expand it, it would lose its originality very VERY quickly. and then become another "game".

I don't understand the logic behind this? Being on the PC doesn't make a game original, infact, originality isn't really influenced by platform.

Besides, Fallout 3 was for consoles and it sold millions. There is definitely an audience on the Xbox 360 and PS3 for it, wouldn't hurt to try and capitalize on it. I don't see how it can become "another game" when you can probably count all console MMO's on one hand, not so much with PC's.

Why would they just make it for the PC? This makes no sense. The only reason companies make games if for the money. So if they limit it to PC then they will be losing money.

No. That would be utterly retarded. Try playing fallout 2 on a console, see how easy it is. PC is just easier, considering the first 3 fallouts(Tactics, not oblivion with guns) were on PC. Consoles get exclusives all the time, its time we got some. :ugeek: What are you waiting for freeman? A hug?

Why not keep console players and pc players seperated on diffrent servers ? if this was a possibillity, i sure as hell cant see the problem with doing the game for console and PC :P /PS3 Player

You guys do know it will cost millions to port a Pc game to console hence why no one does it.

Im personally buying a new PC if Fallout MMO actually gets fininshed which I'm starting to doubt with all these lawsuits going around ImageImageImage

seems that the answer is simple... Name one MMO that's not a first person shooter free for type game that is out there that is actually successful.

I have played many many MMO's and dropped mucho money on monthly fees for Online MMOs on computer and never for consoles. I seriously doubt a MMORPG would work on a console.

IMO, keep it PC.

I have nothing against consoles, but when it comes to any game which uses a system of aiming other than selecting a target (and i'm assuming FOOL is going to have some form of first person or third person shooter format) console gamers are at a serious disadvantage, which is why almost every shooter that comes out on a console incorperates an autoaim feature.

Also, if it's released for a console that can severly limit how much it can be upgraded in the future. How many consoles can hold 20G of patch files along with all your save games and patches for other games?

And, like it was already stated, most games which get released for both PC and console get "dumbed down", IMO this is because of the limitation of buttons found on the console though. I also think there aren't that many console gamers out there that would spend $20+ on a keyboard and mouse for thier console to be able to play an MMO (it's hard to type in a chat channel using a gamepad).
