Make your own Nuka-cola Quantum

Post » Sat Jan 01, 2011 3:37 pm

If you want to make your own Nuka-Cola Quantum it's very easy. All you need is a bottle of soda (preferably something clear) replace the soda with tonic water, or mix the tonic water with a drink of your choice. Lastly shine a U.V. light on the tonic water, and presto! glowing "radioactive" soda. Tonic water tastes like 7-up keep that in mind when your mixing it with something. other liquids will glow when U.V. light shines on them. the best way to find out is to shine the light on them while your shopping (assuming your store owner is okay with it)
Slap on a N-CQ label on it and you're done. it won't glow unless the U.V. light is on but it still looks really cool.
here's what it should look like:

I didn't make this it's just a picture I found.
I should also add that if you want to do this you need to use a florecent black light, not an incandecent. The filiment in the bulb will produce too much visable light, and you won't be able to see the glow.

I guess you can't make it glow by itself, short of putting actual radioactive stuff in it.

Actually if you break open one of those glow sticks, and dump the contents into water it would glow by itself. but if you drank it you would die. Let me say that again, DO NOT DRINK the stuff from glow sticks IT WILL KILL YOU!!!

It might work..all you need to do is put in a blue led light in there. Presumably you can get led lights from one of those things:

break it open, get the led and put it in the drink.

*giggle* Oh, the mental image.
"Oh, cool! Dad, can I buy a glow stick? ...Umm, yeah, I know I'm a bit old for toys, but I'm not going to PLAY with it - you see, I'm only going to drink what's inside of it."
It's a big difference, really! :')

But being a bit more serious, that tonic water is... Surprisingly pretty. I'd be a bit scared to like, actually drink it, but I wouldn't mind showing it off to my bewildered friends. :)

Tonic water is completely harmless, glowing or no. the Quinine in the water absorbs the Ultra Violet light and reflects back the slightly lower frequency blue light that you see in the picture. Trust me we used to do it all the time back when I went to frat parties, and for Halloween. The water is not radioactive, and once it's in your body it stops glowing becuase there is no light being shone on it. (it's not actually glowing, it's kind of like refraction, the light is just reduced to a bright blue from it's invisible U.V.)

Next logical question: If you hold a UV light to your pee later on, does it glow?

DO try this at home kids :)

According to CSI, anything that comes from a human body glows when you bathe it in UV light.

Actually pee does glow in UV light. In auto shop back in high school we had a UV light we could use to find leaks under a car by putting a dye that glows under UV into your oil and stuff.

He told us "Never use one of these right after using the urinal as it can be pretty embarrassing"

He said that cause' stuff splatters and then you got glowing spots on your pants which can be misunderstood if you know what I mean.....Lol!
