Making creatures glow a certain colour

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:35 pm

I know you can make a creature glow by adding a non-carryable light source to its inventory, but every time I try to add a coloured light source the creature just glows white. Doesn't matter if 'dynamic' is checked or unchecked. Am I doing something wrong, or is this just a bug in the MW engine? Has anyone else gotten it to work?

Do you want the creature to actually act as a light source, or simply glow?

To glow, you just need to add a glow map in NifSkope. To act as a light source, you may have to script a light to it or give it a way of carrying a torch.

What Peachykeen said.

Only NPCs can use carry able light sources as such, creatures cannot unless you find another way, trough scripting or something. You can make a creature emit light by making a spell that is ability with light effect and add it to creature's inventory. However that won't be a colored light so I might be really unhelpful.

Not to argue with these guys, but perhaps offer a workable solution. Check this out, dunno if it will help or not: http://miolnir.co.uk/amael/

there are tutorials for working with amael's particle replacers. with it you can make heads/skulls on fire, weapons that glow, etc...

I think most of those effects use glow maps, which glow, but don't give off light (cause, yknow, that's totally possible in reality :P).

Until the OP specifies if they want the creature to actually light up stuff around them (glow maps won't, lights will), not sure how much help anyone can be.
