Re-Making Fallout 1 & 2

Post » Mon Jun 13, 2011 11:47 am

][/font]I love the Fallout series and what Bethseda has done to them, the graphics, the quests, even gambling. What i would like for them to do is re-make the first two like they made Fallout 3 and New Vegas, but enhance it to make it better. What do you guys think?

Remakes do not make something better.

Changing the originals from Isometric to First Person 3d will kill a lot of the character of the games. Not to mention some of the content would be lost/removed. (Mostly due to changing standards of what is thought acceptable)

They were also set across entire states -not local areas like FO3 and NV- the covered area is far greater than that of both the newer games put together. How is that going to translate to first person? Not well I imagine.

Let's leave the originals as they are, shall we.

Besides, Bethesdsa have said before they have no interest in redoing someone elses work, hence why they didn't resurrect Van Buren.

No I don't think they should remake them. I think they should make a sequel that takes place back in the locations of fallout1/2 as I have repeated many times in multiple threads.

Or... OR!... You could just play them despite the old graphic and isometric TB gameplay.

*Stands upon a high rock and points outward in a heroic pose* GENTLEMEN! THAR BE THE FIERCE OLDBIES MARCHIN' THISA WAY!

Seriously, I'm half in half, on one hand, it depends, if you mean 'Re-make' you mean update the graphics? Sure why not, all it's hurting is peoples nostalgia goggles. If you mean rewriting and altering the plots, settlements, or anything in between? No, don't fix what isn't broken.

(However, I wouldn't mind being able to see Vault City in 3-D)

I wouldn't be against it if all they did was make it in 3D and give everyone a voice actor.
But how likely is it that that's all they'll do?
They'll likely change perks, skills, SPECIAL, characters, dialogue, mature content, factions, wasteland, cities, groups, creatures, items, interface, HUD et cetera.
So that's why I'm against it.

If they could do a complete replica only with better graphics and voice actors for everyone and have better Talking Heads than FO3/NV/Obl had then I see no problem with it.
But it's very very unlikely they'll just do that if they remake them.

That's what I just said, if it's just a graphically updated Fallout/Fallout 2 game, I'm all for it. But if it's an overhaul to 'make it better' I'd say let it be. I enjoy it already, I don't need it dumbed down because some 13-14 year old who shouldn't even be playing the game is griping they 'didn't know what to do' :shakehead:

I would greatly enjoy a remake of Fallout 2, even on Gamebyro, provided that they kept everything the way it was; the ability to become a God on Gamebyro has never really bothered me too much as I just self-nerf, but as long as everyline remained intact - even the [censored] stupid one's like Sergeant Granite too I guess - then I would be okay. Would love to see Navarro, Vault City and the ENCLAVE in 3D... oh Richardson in 3D (then again Richardson on Gamebyro :( ).

This. Only if they update the graphics to 3D, I'd very much like to see the settlements that way, but I'd hate it if they redesigned towns, removed characters, changed side-quests and added new ones, and removed mature content. Which they'd certainly do, so... no.

Yeah, those little bastards in the Den would be able to pick-pocket you to their hearts content.

Not only is gambling not a Bethesda addition, it's not even an addition; if anything it wasva bethesda omission in fo3.

No remake, but revisiting some old stomping grounds in a new story is ok by me.

I'm having FOnline flashbacks <_<

Great tips for a new player:

1. You WILL get pickpocketed in towns.
2. You WILL get killed in towns.
3. Don't trust anyone.

:teehee:

I actually want to play FOnline again... Anyone know when the wipe's happening? (Or has it happened already?)

There's been no wipe, our outpost is still there...

I think that'd be impossible unless the kept the map node system. The map is too big to portay in an open world.

I trust the fans making the Fallout 1 mod more than I do Bethesda. Why? Because their goal is to recreate the original Fallout as close as they can, not to sell a product.

Really?
Hmm...
I dunno, the reason we (or maybe it was just me) quit was because we couldn't move upward as all the high quality mines had been taken by the best player factions in the game.
Would it be different if we started once again?
I remember that crafting stuff and organizing the materials was rather stressful.

No reason to remake the first games. Too much would be lost in translation to an FPS adventure.

What FOnline lacked (at least when we last played it and I was along), imo, was a real goal and point. Everything done felt like being done merely for the sake of doing it.

The originals would look cool in modern graphics, But I think they should be left as they are. It's lazy to take someone else's game and recreate it. Bethesda made their own interesting world in Fallout 3, which was much different from the originals. I want new stuff, Sure leaving Vault 13 to murder every mutant in existence or going on a holy quest to find the GECK is fun, But I don't have to do it again in full 3d.

Hmm... maybe, it was just so hard to acomplish anything in that game because of the un-balanced nature of it. Mabye we could go on it, we have all that gear just laying around.

Does any MMO really have a real goal?
Dekaron basically had: grindgrindgrind, grindgrindgrind, grindgrindgrind grindgrindgrind grindgrindgrindgrindgrind.
And World Of Worldcraft had: instance instance epic loot instance max level instance epic loot epic loot instance flying mount mastvrbate to underwear character that's :bunny: .

I'm confused as to why the slangs to poop, intercourse and female dog become censored but 'mastvrbate' is not.

Yeah..
We really need to do more krazies hunts around Necropolis though.
We did like 2 from what I remember and those were really fun. :P
Just put on good gear and kill some ghouls who's minds have gone blaztoid in the sun.

I just think they should sell it the way it is on PSN and Xbox live.

Putting resoures into remaking already made games doesn t make a whole lot of sense. There is more to look foward to. Why waste time remaking old games?
