Making an new toon, what class and is it worth it?

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 5:11 pm

Recently I feel like I have abbandonned the "role-playing" aspect of the game; I always fast travel, never eat, and havn't really made a convincing character.

So, I thought that maybe I would start a no-fast-travel-RP one.

But, I have to wonder if it's worth it. My Breton is level 29 and quite high in the game and somewhat fun. However, I feel like I have already done most of the things in the game and think that making a new one will just be repetitive.

So, any tips on how to make this character fun and not feel so repetitive? Also any RP tips?

Another thing, I need help choosing a class. My Breton was a mage/thief/assasssain and was really fun, but i want to play something diffrent. But, I can't decide what. Thief is already done, Warrior is boring and Mage is somewhat UP, any help on that either?

Thanks

A new toon. That doesn't sound like WoW at all.

I knew this was gonna be the first post. The term 'toon' didn't originate in WoW.

@OP - What class? I dunno, but if you'll enjoy it, it's worth it! Have fun!

When I felt like I wasn't role playing well enough, I made a medium-armored spellcaster/warrior and joined the Vigilantes to hunt deadra. I focused on restoration and alteration magic, mixed in a little destruction, and traveled far and wide to purge tombs of the dead and help citizens in need with swords like Dawnbreaker.

Being the good guy isn't always easy, though. :s

What’s fun for me might not necessarily be fun for you, so there really isn’t any right answer to your question. I can only tell you what I do to have fun in this game which I’m more than happy to share with you. When I’m starting a character whom I don’t really plan on touching the main quest with, I like to start off my just exploring. Find dungeons, find ritual stones and any other mysterious place or thing in this huge world. For example, when I started my mage, the only thing I did for the first 6 hours was dungeon dive and sell almost everything I acquired for profit. I had about 10,000 gold at level 5. Which allowed me to buy some pretty good equipment for that point in the game.

Well considering some of the dialog quest options have two choices, try to make it a habit to pick the exact oppositie responses when confronted with the same quest dialog on your new alt. This way it won't be as repetitive with the same npcs and will be able to see the responses or rewards from the opposite path.

Make your next character strictly use only one skill type.... that's always a challenge ;)

Ex: Make a mage and only use magic of a certain field... like Destruction only, and no weapons or stealth.

Don't forget about vampirism ;)

I made a second character at lvl 14 and found the experience to be very different. If you dont want a pure mage how about a magic-knight? Pick a fantasy archetype you like and try to build it.
For e.g.: A Paladin. So heavy armour, hammers/maces, restoration, alteration and no other magic.
Or a Deathknight. So heavy armour, Mean looking weapons, destruction, necromancy, (or leech life life spells... If theyre in the game)

Kind of stereotypical examples I know but theyre just off the top of my head.

Well if you're making a new no-fast-travel rule this time around and you always fast-travelled before you'll stumble across plenty of new stuff to do!

Be an Redgard Sellsword or an Argonian/Khajiit ex slave hell bent on revenge. You could also be an Orc shaman, mixing magic and melee. It depends on how far you wanna go with the RP
