Making use of 5 guilds

Post » Thu Feb 13, 2014 12:22 am

I really love the 5 guild concept, offers a lot of versatility to possible purposes of guilds.

*How I would like to use it:

--Macro Alliance PvP guild: Hundreds of players, organizing objectives in pvp

--Niche PvP guild: Supply line cutting assassins guild, or even just a small battalion organizing targets for group 1 shot snipes and such.

--Alliance wide trading guild: Perhaps broken down by level ranges, all members have access to guild shop and can also use guild chat as trade channel.

--Friends/RP/PVE grouping guild: For the silly banter and not so serious side of the game.

--Ranked guild: Highest ranking hardcoe prestige guild that I can get into or develop a bond and affinity to.

How about you?

*Some other possible guild concepts:

--Cross alliance diplomatic guilds between PVP guild leaders, to form temporary alliances or trade truces on specific objectives. I am curious if a faction can be eliminated from a campaign to allow for 1v1, if not this could be a good way to capture scrolls!

--Non-english guilds

Also: Looking to head start on some of these guilds in Aldmeri Dominion- anyone have some leads as to where I might look to join up with some hardcoe players forming guilds? Thanks!

I hate guild hoppers. I am a one-guild person. Most guild hoppers are only there for their own benefit, are hardily active in the guild chat and are never there when you need them. My experience from GW2.

I find this a big flaw in ESO. It is not good to be in multiple guilds.

It may not be good, but it's account bound, meaning all characters get into those guilds, this I guess is to allow some freedom. I am neutral about his for now, remains to be seen what you get for it.

Not exactly, I just can imagine one great use of multi guild system:

- one home guild, average size

- "alliance" of few average sized guilds

So you actually do not hop, but with home guild all join other mega guild for PvP objectives (and bonuses)

That sounds good in theory but that is not my experience in GW2. Many gamers only represented the guild when there was something to get. The guild got nothing from them because they were also together with some RL friends in an other guild. They saved all the benefits for their friend's guild.

Eventually i want to play all 3 factions. Being able to get into more than 1 guild makes it possible to have all different faction characters get into a guild.

And maybe 1 or 2 dedicated crafters belonging to a specific crafters guild.

One thing I hated about Guild Wars 2 was the multiple guild option. It meant people would always run off to chat in other guilds.

In GW2 when you represented guild you disconnected from others (visible, but not active) so it was considered bad becuase you lost access to chat.

It should be done in the way that you are active in all, so nobody knows exactly what guild you acually "represent" (you are just member) and you have up to 5 parralel chats - I know it complicates a bit, but not so much.

Also in GW2 there was no point to permamnently have goal to stay in PvP - the guild simply made one big team (with leader or just joined other group) and randomly run in PvP untill all had enough and go back to PvE.

No, You can be member of up to 5 players guild.

that makes no sense at all. Not saying you are wrong it just makes no sense. There is nothing to be gained and actually weakens the underlying Guilds structure. As a guild leader I would frown upon having members not fully committed to the advancement of the guild I was leading.

i hate the way guilds are handled in ESO, its the worst guild system i have ever been a part of. up to 5 guilds and they are account wide? all my characters join? yeah i hate it. guilds will lose what made them fun for me in this system

In GW2 I am a member of 4 guilds.

Two of those are guilds related to doing specific content, one for Teq, the other for the new Wurm event.

Of the other 2 guilds, one is my pesonal bank guild (I rep this the most), and the other is a very casual social guild that I don't partake in very odten.

In ESO I see guilds functioning somewhat differently.

A personal bank guild makes no sense since you need 10 members to get guild bank space.

I can see requirements for an aliance/PvP guild, a dungeon guild; and perhaps a more casual/social PvE type guild.

I plan on having a khajiit-only RP-oriented guild, but I'll still use my other guild slots to work with pvp and pve raiding guilds.

Wait, probably not explained well becuase I think it makes sense and I was a guild leader (40 active people).

So let's imagine you are 40 people guild, it makes usually up to 30 people online in best hours and usually it is less.

Now you see Cyrodill PvP with all of good things (AH, bonuses from having keep or farms), but usually there will be 200 people zergs and even if your zerg wins keep then just at night or some time later it will be lost.

So you start to think and find out that there are 5-10 similar guilds that also have exactly same problem - what if we join together? But no! we do not want to create one mega guild we just feel good in smaller guilds, but what if we create alliance by creating new guild used to coordinate PvP large scale?

So all will just stay in the same guild but simply join another guild - such mega guild will not serve as real guild but only to have people to protect keep all the time.

This is one thing i do not understand "be able to join up to 5 Guilds" WHY? Is it because guildhoppers should have it easier? ..... whats their reasoning behind this? ....

I for one will join one Guild and stick with it always have always will.... im allso one that take alot of time in deciding wich Guild to join .... like alot of time :P

I have to agree with you. I have to wonder though what happens if I remove a character from any one guild, do I remove all my characters? Pesonally there are times when I just want to log in do my thing and not talk to anyone, spend some time decompressing from the day. Something I think others with high stress high pressure jobs can relate to.

becauuse of chat - you might have wish to talk with few different groups (famili, friends, guild, mega guild)

Example:

- if I'm RP player I would be in RP guild, but does it mean that I can not be also in regular guild?

- If I have few friends after long playing and we are in different guilds, does it mean we can not have shared chat to discuss things?

It is all fine when we think about two people relationship - wisper can be used, but whenever there is group then they need a chat. It could be done that channels are done, but multiguilding will enable one big guild to control keep and benefit from AH while still being in separate guilds.

The system is annoying and i dont see any use for it. Its not only annoying but the way they do your name is again annoying as hell. The whole system feels clunky, log in today and the guild a b c is g1 g2 g3 log in later that afternoon, guild a b c is g3 g1 g2. Its annoying as hell. Right now i didn't see a way to even change the different guild chat but since the guilds are not locked into a order it probably couldn't be done.

I still haven't even figured out the market system, had a guy in ts this weekend screaming about holding a keep and your supposed to get resources off it or something and if say a 1 man guild nub had a keep it would screw the system or something. Still trying to find all that out, when people go emo in voice over something i usually tell them to go get stuffed.

A guild is an commitment between a group of people. When every member is in 5 guilds, what is left of that commitment and cameraderie?

There is no reason to form a separate guild for that.

Use the Mechanic from DAoC Guild Alliances. Works great.

Alliance chat spans all the member guilds. If I need help I can ask in alliance chat, covering multiple guilds at once, and all of their player base. the system you are describing is chaotic and inefficient, requiring multiple steps to reach out to fewer players than if they used the Alliance System instead. Trust me it makes a major difference in response time to defend or take objectives in RvR

Again easily handled by creating your own chat channel. Nothing ground breaking, and keeps the guild structure intact.
