MaLDo vs Crytek

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 12:05 pm

To be honest the screenshots of Crytek's texture pack, while definitely improved, are still less than impressive... compared to MaLDo's texture mod
Any comments?

edit: i just noticed MaLDo's mod requires version 1.1 :/

Cryteks high res texture > maldos.

Obviously, in most of them. Sure there are a lot of better textures in 1,7 gb official pak, but at least I prefer my fallen leaves and stone tiles XD

DX11 has nothing to do with textures.

Tesselation can make textures look better, since they aren't flat.

Maldo has better textures in most cases, especially the leaves and stone tiles as highlighted. However, Crytek's pack is what I heard to be 5.7gb uncompressed, so that is likely an overhaul of most (if not almost all) the textures.

Maldo how many textures do you plan on doing?

I still wouldnt consider them in the same boat. Are you are doing is placing textures on a tessilated area, hardly any different than putting it on a flat surface.

Other than the fact Microsoft made the texture size limit bigger in DX11, so loosely it does. :p
