Male Female Ratio of TES Players

Post » Sun Sep 15, 2013 3:17 am

Female here. I'm also 30+, mother of two and often get the feeling people don't expect me to play computer games. (Or read fantasy, or listen to metal, or end up having really nerdy discussions. I suppose I look too much like a soccer mom or something.)

I play both male and female characters, but have more female ones.

Oh yes. Plain logic. Unfortunately, there still are many companies out there that haven't realized this - yet... B)

< female 44. I play as both male or female depends on what I think suite my RP better.

The only time I had any problem with guys in gaming was when my son talked me into playing WoW and a couple guys found out I was female. I only played for awhile cause I wasn't into playing games at that time, plus I really didn't have the time. He wanted to play and I thought he was to young....So I wanted to see what it was all about... that was.... errr 15ish yrs ago, maybe more.

Aaaand we see why... 3 to 1. I'm actually pretty surprised, but I guess we males do have a more violent (ya know, beheading Imperials and that sort of thing) temperament (that's not bias, testosterone causes aggression and competitive behavior).

I whole-heartedly agree with you. Hence the quotation marks around the word.

You can also be competitive with females around. If someone is as "macho" as he thinks, he wouldn't mind....all he has to do is to win to prove himself right

The only ones who doesn't like playing with females around are the cowards who are too insecure of their victory as to risk themselves the shame. And that not only applies for videogames, but also for practically all sports and activities in real life.

Oh, of course. I wasn't referring to the divide between men and women; I was referring to the higher tendency of guys to play such games.

Haven't seen that at all myself. Other than the Jennifer Hepler fiasco. I would say half my gamer tweeps are male and half are female, all are nice and respectful, never had anyone make a sixist comment when I comment on a game. Haven't seen anything like that in forums, either.

The only thing I notice is that gamers sometimes have different ideas of what makes a game fun, and the hardcoe competitive stuff is not for me and I'd say is probably more a male thing, but could very well apply to some women too.

Oh, someone did make a dumb comment about Hearthfire being the kind of DLC we get because there are too many female players, or something to that effect. Dude probably had to skim past dozens of "if I can't marry Serana I'm going to torch myself on Todd Howard's doorstep" threads to get to that board.

No game gets me more pumped and gets the adrenaline running like a good multiplayer game. I prefer TES still, but live is something else, truly.

I've never met a female gamer, ever.

Yeah...i thought you were a girl too  I thought Celan was a guy too. idk everything i know is a lie i guess

Ahh, the good ol' days when Halo 2 reigned supreme...still fantastic, but nothing beat the classic neighborhood system link tournaments we used to have. Live/multiplayer just aint the same.

:D I even changed my gender on my profile in case you checked that, hehe. But really, you could never tell. That's the tough thing. You just have to assume everyone is telling you the truth.

38-year-old male. Almost all my characters are/have been female, because they can do everything males can do and they'll look better doing it (and have better hair). Made one dude to represent myself, but quickly lost interest as he didn't really have any backstory as all my usual characters do.

Female. 47. African-American. Not a combination one sees often, I expect.

I usually play female characters, just because not every game lets you play female characters so I take full advantage of the ones that do, but I've had a couple of male characters as well.

I'm so glad to see many women gamers here. I'm male and also on the wrong side of 40.

I always build a male character since I can't really RP a female one. I tried. Once.

I remember Mass Effect 2, reading comments about the great voice acting of the female version, so I tried there too with same results. I use to identify the char with my personality, hence always male.

I’m 23 and female. I've been gaming since I was a child thanks to my older brother’s influence.
