Male Female Ratio of TES Players

Post » Sun Sep 15, 2013 5:03 am

A lot of people when they first get to know me are surprised to learn that I'm an avid gamer, mainly as I'm female and a lot of people do think of gaming as more of a guy thing. But I get a great amount of enjoyment out of gaming and I suspect a lot of other girls/women do too.

This forum seems FAR more tolerant of mixed gender gamers than other places online. So I'm wondering what the ratio is here of male/female players. It would be interesting to know.

A dude here, tbh tho this won't answer the question about which ratio of genders play Skyrim, it will only tell us what gender forum users are. I suspect the ratio of women playing would be much higher than women using the forum.

Oh, no doubt, but I wanted to know if there were many female players on the forum. So far I seem to be the only one who's voted. lol

There will always be more male players. I'm glad to see more and more females joining. I think TES has a larger female community than others.

Definitely. It's far more tolerant too. Some guys just don't think it's a 'girl's place' to be gaming. Personally, I love the escapism gaming provides and wish people could just enjoy what they enjoy. I can't think of anything I enjoy more than playing Skyrim atm (and having a boyfriend who is also an avid gamer is a plus in the relationship :) ).

Early middle-aged male player here. Generally prefers playing female characters - no idea why, just do.

Ha, that's actually an interesting point. I always play as female (but then I've only got 2 characters so far). I plan to play a male Khajiit at some point.

Maybe TES has more female players because it has a lot of good second life elements. You know like SIMS is way more popular with girls than Halo.

I think that is a good question tho: why does Skyrim have a more equal gender ratio than other games?

Because from a dev's perspective, creating a game that appeals to women as well as men increases your potential customers by 100%.

I'm a female and I usually play as one, too. So far, 5 women and 12 men have voted.

This again eh? Always fun to see the female side grow. Hopefully it continues to so we can get more sensible female armors in the future and have less of what Bioware offers as characters.

TES is more interesting as it gives you an opportunity to play any of the races as a female. I generally don't play games where you can't play a female character. Although in one of my favourite games "Tekken" I always played male as all the female characters were ludicrously sixualised and incredibly unrealistic. Each to their own, obviously, but that's my personal bug bear.

Haha Yeah hopefully women will have armor that's as much 'protect your neck and chest' as the men, as opposed to the 'show em the goodies' variation!

I be a fella, well old fart really :lmao:

I really don't understand the big deal about girl gamers, I know several and it's never struck me as odd that they as well share the same love for gaming as I. Some of em are fully able to make me look like a newb as far as gaming goes, and I got 20+ years of gaming experience under my belt. So I really don't get what the hub bub is all about

If you're female and you play games like COD, people stalk you and send messages.

Male over here :P I actually convinced two of my female friends into playing Skyrim and they loved it!

I always welcome more people playing video games. Anyone can play video games no matter the gender, age, etc.

I find it difficult for my current female Companion to use Wolf Armor (one of my favorite sets in the game) because of the ridiculous and unnecessary boob-plate.
