male or female ?

And the guys, similarly, tend to all have ripped abs, giant pecs & biceps, and chisled faces. Characters in games tend to be idealized.

(The "everyone has the same body, even the old witch in the swamp" thing, is technical limitations - the programmers stuck with the easy approach and just made a single male & female body.)

Hi 2000, I miss your imputs about this in the NV forum...

However the old witch in the swamps was not so much that the semi nvde body was that of a 20 year old.
Rather that the outfits and style that overwrite the mesh are completely at odds with the characters role / feel.

For example they could have made a baggy outfit that covers the torso, instead they opted for a catsuit, thus overwritting the base mesh of the body with a tight pvc hubba hubba get up.
Then left the face as an older ladies, with a new again out of character hair do.

Then a rogue called Isabella seems to have a larger more exposed bust than she would if the outfit was removed.
Again most likely overwritting the base mesh, other outfits that I've seen seem to do this as well.

However certain characters I understand this with, but making a majority of them in a game is just pandering to a immature market.
So I hope the outfits in Skyrim when overwritting don't go overboard with the same looks.

I agree, thats somthing i never liked about a lot of games. It's completely unrealistic when it comes to girls, they always have massive chests, perfect bodies, and flawless faces. Girl players are obviously a very small minority when it comes to most games, so it makes sense to play to the crowd and make girls more appealing for guys- but come on...it's madness...not all women have 44dd briasts.

the jealousy is strong with this one

You can only play as a male Nord that looks like Conan the Barbarian. If you attempt to play as anything else, 10 billion miniature Fargoth's will pop out of your screen and run around your ankles bugging you about their missing ring.

as everything ive read and since everything points to the male hero which i have no issue playing as, just wondering can you play as female aswell ? and if playing as either male or female will they have different fighting styles and interactions with NPCs ?

I don't say this often, but that question, sir, is stupid.
Of course you'll be able to choose both genders. And, as allways, there'll be no discrimination, save for perhaps a few quests (like the one in Morrowind with the Telvani Sorceress that had a problem with men).

re: the trailer says "Him"

Well, they did kind of have to pick one. It wouldn't be nearly as dramatic narration if the voice said "and they call him or her....." :D

How is Esbern supposed to know upfront the gender of Dovahkiin?
It's just natural speech: men use "him" and "his" out of habit when they talk about a person whose gender they don't know.

I'm sure I'll be able to play as a female but they're not very good at marketing to women yet. Maybe they'll get there later in the marketing cycle. It was that way with Fallout New Vegas. We were asking to see the female versions of the armor and there just weren't any. When they finally did the game demo broadcast that was about an hour long, it was exciting to see a woman doing the gameplay demo with a female character in the game. It felt like they actually cared about us. :) Thanks to Obsidian for that again. :)

I have played morrowind and oblivion and know that you have had the choice, but this one is differet in the sence that the info started that u were a king etc... so that assumes male and nothing has stated at the moment that u could play as either and or what differences to the game that will have

Your not a king... the king is dead, your not dead

There was a female player character hunting in the woods on the trailer. So nothing to worry about in that department.

I dont think that was a female.

If that was a woman, that was the ugliest woman I've ever seen. :P

It is a female actually. If you look closely, or pause/slow down the trailer during that scene, you can clearly see side boob, and her build is slimmer than that of the main male PC shown in the trailer. It's just hard to tell at first because of the camera angle and the fact that she's crouching.
