Male NPC Reactions To Female Characters

Post » Wed Dec 22, 2010 4:00 am

Should we have Male Npc's Reacts to Female Characters ? Example.like when you walk slowly The Male Guards are gonna look at your ass and make a Reaction like You Look Good Today or Guard talks to Guard Isn't she a Good lookig one ?
when some male Npc Greets you like this Good day,Why are you looking so nice ?
when your standing in front of a Male NPC the Male NPC will look at your boobs and say Damn !
when in a bar some guys gonna offer you a Drink
Some Reactions Should be like Wish you were my Wife

In Oblivion The Male Npc Was always looking at your Female Character ass when you walk Slowly but they Did not say Anything It would be fun if they did

The same When Female Npc reacts to Male Characters
Example
your Good Looking man from a Female Npc to Male Character
You look Hot Female Npc Reaction to Male Character
You got a Good Body Female Npc Reaction to Male Character
When your a Male Character And sitting in a Bar and there will be sometimes some Female that offers you a Drink
And a Female Npc Reaction like Wish You Were My Man

No...I really just don't like this idea. At all. No need to put such an over emphasis on gender and base everything they say on lust and things like that. That's just...no thanks.

The language choice you chose doesnt exactly fit TES. But Im not sure if I like your idea. I would have to see it in action.

I think the addittion of the odd character like this in the seedier taverns would be fine. But with befitting language and attitude, generally no guards or anything though.

Wouldn't some of the male NPCs in Morrowind let off an interested "whew" whistle sometimes if you were a female? Something as simple as that would be nice to see now and again.

EDIT: No pretentious lines like those described in the OP, though.

That's too blunt for TES in my opinion, if they're gonna have something like this it should be like good ol' uncle Crassius or that one Khajiit woman in the bar at Peligaid

Hahaha.

As hilarious as I think this is, don't you think there could be a bit of an issue with objectifying a female PC like that?

She is more than a walking pair of boobs you know...

As long as they're subtle about it... something along these lines:

Say for example you're on a quest to defeat a bandit warlord or something, and during part of the quest you have a dialogue interaction with the bandit, if you're female he says somthing like "what's a pretty thing like you doing here?" and if you're male he'd say "Hoho look a this tough guy, he thinks he can take us all on... lets see how he fares"

I think that would be about as far as they would go with it... the things you're speaking of (like NPC's checking out your *ahem* ASSets) seems a bit too... ehh weird.

To clarify on my earlier post, I'd be okay with a drunk Nord hitting on my female character, and honestly, I'd be a little disappointed if I went the whole game without that ever happening, but I wouldn't want it to just be a "male reaction" to a female character. Just one or two characters in the entire game.

Additionally, no NPC ever looked at my female character's ass in Oblivion.

As a generic/common NPC response? No way. Too many variables to account for... from a roleplaying, rather than programming perspective - but maybe that too!

Some specific NPCs might well behave this way, though.

I don't really like this idea, especially if it's as common as you describe. I think it would be a good way to make a character look slimy, but, if present at all, should only be for a very few select non-player characters. And I seriously don't think guards by any notable magnitude should exhibit that behavior.

A little bit would be okay, like the above post said, "A drunk Nord". Otherwise the feminists would have a field day with Skyrim.

Basically this.

I think too many people are dismissing this off-hand. Yes the way the OP suggests it is ridiculous. But a toned down version is perfectly befitting TES. Like I stated before, certain taverns could have certain indivduals that behaved this way. Afterall, there are drunk people there. We've had people acting like idiots in earlier games, this fits perfectly fine.

No offense but the OP idea sounds really stupid. Not necessarily the general premise, but if it were executed in such an obvious and boorish way it'd get sort of stupid.

The basic premise of male/female differences is good though, the game should do more to acknowledge gender in general.. there should be positive dimorphism (higher strength/willpower/speed for male, higher intelligence/agility/personality for females), and I think that male-female interactions should vary slightly from male-male or female-female interactions. Lets face it, a man talking to a woman is never going to play out the same as a man talking to a man, or visa versa, and the idea of non-biased dimorphism is also very interesting.

As for pickup lines and such, it would just be annoying unless it was subtle.

it was on my Female Character espescially the Guards were the one it only happens when you Walked Slow like you are in slomotion
The Guards were gonna turn the head to your character But don't know if they look at my ass but they look at you when you Walk Along them

Actually, any generic dialogue gets very very very very very very very very very very very very very very repetitive
And hearing someone comment on my nice argonian ass would be annoying as hell when I roll around in heavy armor wielding two daggers.
So combine the two and you get a loooooot of money worth for the "dynamic quests" or whatever it's called.

At first I thought you were going to have something interesting to say, like how the interactions between genders ARE very different in real life... but when I read it it just turned into an exercise of objectification.

The fact is, socially, males will interact differently with females than they will with males, and females interact differently with males than they do with females. They interact differently when they are in small groups, large groups, and when alone or in private.

http://www.berkeleymedia.com/catalog/berkeleymedia/films/communication/language_linguistics/gender_and_communication_malefemale_differences_in_language_and_nonverbal_behavior

I thought you meant something much more subtle, interesting, and meaningful.

This is often the reason most games do not allow the player to play both a male and female character, considering that besides the second set of dialogue for the player, everyone in the world really should treat them slightly differently in the style of the communication.

This is why TES games are always so impersonal and the social interaction so flat... it was just that when the dialogue was written like a wikipedia page (Morrowind) it was less noticeable and the player was left to imagine the social interaction as he pleased, rather than now (Oblivion), where the social interaction is just as flat only more noticeable thanks to the animation and dialogue work.

Technically, Bethesda should get enough writers to produce unique dialogue and animated interaction for each gender of every race, and then also for their social position, and the character's relationship and personality and appearance.

This is obviously totally possible, if only Bethesda would give up voiced dialogue and concentrate a bit more on the important things.

I don't think it'd work for every character reacting to every character, but instead of a select few pervs, why not a select few Siren-ish characters. NPC's only react to certain special NPC's, most likely hot women. Or an actual Siren character, a woman who makes all men, including married one's, react in a giggity manner.
