Malevolent Crashes Me

Normally, in the circumstance that a mod crashes the game, I just shrug and remove it...There are only a very select few mods I would actually care about trying to fix if they crashed me,
well...Malevolent is one of them. I was really enjoying the quest, and I didn't get too far, but still, I got to a part where I have to go to Bruma to (most likely) kill someone. Buuuuuut....everytime I load Bruma, it crashes. I did remove every mod and try loading and it worked. I tried turning off more recent mods, and it still crashed, so I simply assumed that it was probably Malevolent...so I went to my data files and unchecked Malevolent, loaded Oblivion up...and..well...sure enough, without Malevolent active, Bruma loaded just fine.

and just if you are curious, yes I used BOSS to sort my LO...though I am wondering why standard armor and weapon mods are coming before the giant quest mods...but I have no idea what exactly LO is for, I just know that if it isn't right the game will crash.
so, if you don't mind helping please please :) I would like to go back to learning more about the Armor of Malevolence.

Deadly Reflex 5 - Timed Block with no damage or durability changes.esp

To the end of your LO.

I do not want to download Wrye Bash...sorry i know its a modders best friend, but I just can't stand having to download all sorts of stuff...I will only download it if I absolutely must, no questions asked.
But it's not to that right now, since this is the first time I encountered any issues in a few days =P (I have added liek 3 mods every day since I got Oblivon back up and running, so, I knwo a few days sounds bad, but with the amount of mods I have been cramming onto the game...really that is not too bad.)

EDIT:
After rearranging my LO, and booting up the game to test...well, good news: It loaded further than before...bad news...it still crashed.
I swear I got the patch, but I suppose it doesn't hurt to redownload and reinstall the patch, so I will try that. except it's nearly 5 AM so that will wait till tomorrow...

You've already got enough things in your load order to justify needing Wrye Bash. You will eventually find it to be a necessity, and resisting it won't get you very far. It isn't a modder's best friend, it's a player's best friend.

well, I had already patched Malevolent, but I just did replace everything that was in the patch and repatched it. I also resorted my LO (moving those 2 mods that persistantly want to be in the middle of things) and still, I am crashing in Bruma....only Bruma though. And it's not outside the city, it's in the Bruma Worldspace.

I checked through some of the comments on the Nexus page to see if anyone experianced the same problem...but no. (feel free to check yourself, I read from page 1 - 8)

so is there anything I can do? or do I just...have to...trash it....

You have some race and/or body mods in that LO. Did you happen to complete the MQ portions of Bruma while using those? If so this may be an issue relating to the statue. I know the statue is sensitive to removing custom race/body mods but I'm not 100% sure if that's also sensitive to moving them in the load order.

I will try (again) with only my custom race and the master file on, but I am certain I tried that last night...but it was so late I can't remember. Look back for an edit.

EDIT:
It's funny how the hero of Cyrodiil consists of only a mgically floating amulet and ring and nothing else. Anyways, I loaded up just the .esm and my custom race and everything loaded just fine in Bruma.

EDIT:
Breaking news on this story. Taking the idea said by Arthmoor, of just loading the race and master file, I went ahead and tried the race, the master file, and Malevolent, and sure enough, Bruma loaded...so I suppose - in truth - the problem may not be Malevolent in itself.

I have no freaking idea what is going on with my game now...I'm thinking it's time I get Wrye Bash :brokencomputer: :banghead:
I was turning mods on 10 at a time to disect where the main problem was coming from...well, one of my clothing mods crashed me at Bruma, so I thought maybe it was in the wrong position in the LO, so after turning it off and turning all my other mods on, loading up the game, then fast traveled to bruma...I still crashed...meaning it wasn't just the clothing....
I am going to continue sorting through all my mods to find out what the problem mods are and then I will post an edit here listing them.

I suppose I should also note that since the last LO was posted I believe I added a new mod or two, so it is better to use this LO.

EDIT:
I just tested running the game with one active but not the other (once with AthenaArmour on, RC43Christmas off; AthenaArmour off, RC43Christmas on) and the result was the same...upon loading Bruma (I'm about to go test to see if it does it for other cities too) the game would crash.

EDIT
Immediately after finishing that edit something hit me! it's the statue for the hero of Cyrodiil!!!
It makes sense(I think)! I was wearing armor that was given to me from the christmas mod, while I also had on hand the Athena Armor....meaning, if I have one armor off, it read that I beat the game with the other armor on, but it will not equip the statue with that armor!!! that is why it's crashing!!

how do I fix it?

Head over to Nexus and look for a handy little mod called "Update my Statue". You should be able to resolve the problem that way. Just make sure you aren't wearing anything that might cause issues.

Usually body mods and such are the issue, but I guess custom equipment mods would be just as much of a problem. Especially if they're load order sensitive.

wow what an inconvieniant time to learn how to change my statue! I can't remove this stupid armor of Malevolence until I complete the quest.
I think I was able to glitch it off of me before, so I will try that, but let me know if you know how to take off armor that automatically equips after unequipping it.

EDIT:
Thank you so much for that mod!!! :) I was able to glitch the armor off of me momentarily to beable to talk to the statue, and get it to replace it with what I was currently wearing.
