I am super excited to fight mammoths and saber tooth cats. Do you think they will include any other ice age animals?

Meh. I'd rather have original creatures. Hopefully Skyrim won't be as similar to ice age Earth and Scandinavia as Cyrodiil was to medieval England.

You know, no others actually immediately spring to mind for me. Sabre-Tooth Tigers and Mammoths just are the Ice Age for me. Some kind of giant hairy boar type thing would be pretty groovy though. Similar to Oblivion boars, but bigger. Maybe they could be used as a regional mount? I wouldn't really want to see too many horses up in Skyrim. Maybe towards the Cyrodil border, but further inland, more localised mounts and transport would be cool. Something that says, "I'm in Skyrim, not Finland".

One thing I will say however, is I hope that the Sabre-Cats don't use the same attack animations as the mountain lions of Obvivion... <_< The worst part is, the Lions weren't even worse looting. Their pelts were worth less than wolves in weight to gold. Maybe having their pelts and fangs being valuable would offset that?

EDIT: You both ninja'd me... In both my points! D:

Dinohyus, Beth should really consider these beast. There is a particular ice-age wolf I had in mind, but it's name escapes me.

Edit: Dire Wolf, how did I forget that

Short snout bear would be EPIC!

Muscoxs, Polarbears, Icefoxes... Sure. I'd also like to see some mythological creatures.

I hope so. I really love this type of creature, and if current screenshots are any indication they're going to look tremendous in-game. (I secretly want dinosaurs to be in an Elder Scrolls game too, but it's much too much to hope for.)

I agree that the saber-cats and mammoths are pretty much the iconic ice age beasts. A huge boar or wooly rhino mount would be amazing too.

Yeah it looked like there were white-foxes in one of the dungeon pictures in the art video.

I hope they make some of the animals look like fantasy versions of the original by adding extra tusks/fangs etc. Like a wooly rhino that might have clawed feet and be able to run faster.

If dinohyus, dire wolves, saber-tooth cats, and short snout bears were walking around, I'd question ever leaving my home. :nope:

Besides wooly rhinos, bison, dire wolf, short-faced bear, ground sloth, lion, camel, and a lot of others that aren't typically thought of when you think "ice age"? La Brea Tar Pits have found a lot of critters. I do have some hope that not everything they put in the game will attempt to kill your character immediately, I still have the feeling my character is going to not enjoy meeting the saber-tooth. I still remember meeting the first lion in Oblivion.

I'd like Mammoths to put up a mammoth sized fight. I kind of suspect that combat with bigger creatures may be the same as it is now. I've not seen many FPS games that actually knock or throw you around in fights with very large creatures; which is kind of disappointing. Of course we don't have confirmation on how battle will work, but I'm going to lean toward it working just as it always had.

Psh. Australian megafauna kicks the ass of any of your fancy-schmancy European/North American megafauna any day of the week.

I mean, http://www.imperial-library.info/content/daggerfall-ius-animal-god exist in TES, so hows about a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zaglossus_hacketti (a sheep-sized echidna), or a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diprotodon (a bigger-than-a-freakin-human wombat)?

In short, our prehistoric mammals are better than your prehistoric mammals.

Well when you see what they http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/6a/Giant_ground_sloth_Iowa.JPG, it probably wouldn't be such a bad idea.
