Man asked to resign, goes on shooting spree

Nothing to lose. :(

How about a life? A family? Friends? I've been laid off before but I certainly didn't want to kill anyone, let alone hurt myself.

This is pretty awful occurrence. I'm glad i'm not in the family of the victims and i hope the heads will be okay. Sadly, in an economie like this im expecting to see a lot more of these... there were plenty in the great depression. :sadvaultboy:

Second point, I wonder sometime's if anyone really care's about prevention of these action's. I'd find it a bit more helpful for office's and major companies to have some form of actually associable briefing on why it's not even worth the rage......go play dart's and take your anger out on inanimate object's, not actual people.

The problem is that when it's the companies actions or inactions that cause the friction when an employee is having a problem, where do you turn? It' like a corrupt police force, who are you going to call to report abuse from the police?

It's a shame it happened. My condolences to the family of the victim, and the family of the shooter.

I'd say quit your job and find a different company or just tolerate it. Sure, it sound's hard, but I've managed to overcome year's of insult's and now I've achieved stability socially and mentally. There's nothing wrong with a little patience, but I guess there were too many variable's in this case OR other's, making these incident's all the more hard to prevent.

Such a shame, what a waste of life and potential.

The thing is probably that in these cases all the things you mentioned are missing and the job is the only thing that gives the person a reason to wake up in the morning. Their whole world could possibly be about their job.

We aren't getting all of the story.
First the driver was disciplined for stealing beer? Reports of racism, nooses, taunts. Then there is no record of the driver filing complaints.
Was there a complaint filed, or "misplaced"? Why did the union boss die? Was it a question of wrong place at the wrong time, or something more?
Why resort to a massacre when a racism lawsuit would have been more profitable?
His girlfriend reported his behavior came as a surprise, and he gave no indications he was going to snap.
I also wonder why he carried a gun to work? Was it an everyday occurence? Had the driver been robbed before?
What went on in that meeting, that I want to know. I doubt anyone will ever know.

My condolences to the familes of the victims.

I don't know what's worse, the fact that this happened, or the comments at the bottom.

The reason it's usually an angry employee or ex-employee is explained pretty well in the movie "He Was a Quiet Man". Some employees working at desk jobs feel oppressed to the point where they would rather kill what caused them grief than simply leave.

Some of the posts in this thread are downright disgusting, too.

"I have no feelings, man. I don't care about this, and either do you"

:slap:

You need to go think happy thoughts, right now. Or maybe call a Doctor.....

Either way. A tragedy. It's seems that there are a lot of wacko's out there in the world. This was a murder suicide right? Just stupid..... Why not just kill yourself, and not take a bunch of people with you, huh?

Oh no, i feel emotions.
I just don't see why everyone acts all sad and "oh that's such a shame" when no one really gives a [censored]. It's better them than you. Better you than me.

Do you not bother with questions about the weather, either? When a complete stranger asks me or makes some passing comment about the temperature or the rain, it's not like I GAF. Who does? But we still ask these silly, meaningless things for a range of reasons. Probably most often to just engage in small talk, to be social. Sharing the news about this shooting is also a way to engage our community and express emotions in general. Not that you or I really worry about what happened. But at least we can evaluate the "temperature" of our community, this forum in this case, by how others respond. And responses here tend to be far better and empathetic than other places. In other words, this is a cool place to be.

I know right.

I worked in a factory for 2 months before I realized that:
1. I'm in school and I don't have time for this and
2. The people here really don't like me ( I was forced to eat lunch alone for 2 months straight...)

It would have been impossible to steal anything from that place, there were cameras everywhere. They had them outside of bathrooms and everything, it felt like a jail. So, stealing from a place like that is not smart.

I was going to read some of these comments at the bottom to see what all the fuss was about, but then I saw that at last count, there were ELEVEN THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED AND FORTY OF THEM. Looks like it's a racial charged shouting match from the few I did see though, which is unfortunate yet typical on the internet.

I guess the whole "disgruntled worker who snaps" bit is only funny in the movie Falling Down. This is pretty depressing. Also, one of the guys who survived got shot in the face. Not sure I'd want to if that happened to me. :X

Good questions, though I'm wondering why it is that these people always kill themselves after shooting a bunch of people. I mean, if you feel it was justified, why kill yourself afterwards? And if it's not, why do it? :brokencomputer: Such a waste.

Well he knows the consequences so instead of waiting around in death row or in a cell for the rest of your life, might as well clock out.
