Man do i wish!

Since I started playing warface full time and occasionally I still play crysis 2 I thought I would try to overclock my cpu some more since I just ordered my gtx 570. I know my rig is old so no trolls on here posting their specs and dissing on mine o.k. Any ways, my cpu is the core 2 duo e8400. Have had it for a while and love it. I've had it overclocked to 4ghz since day one on 1.3 volts. Not bad right? Well I figured what the hell why not try more. So I went to my local pc store and bought 4 gigs of 1066 ddr2 ram and slapped it in and tried for higher clocks as my ddr2 800 was stopping me from going any higher. So in the end without better cooling I hit 4.4ghz on 1.4 volts. So I ran some benches and noticed something funny when I was running core temp. Here it is.

Sorry If it's a little fuzzy, couldn't get my camera to focus. Like I said the real settings are 4.4ghz and 1.4 volts but man do I wish....lol.

I hope you understand the risk in overclocking. I suggest reading up on "Electromigration", it's what happens when you overclock.
Also, since you overclock, you need to worry about your motherboard's VRMs or your PSU's wattage output on the 12v+ rail(s).

I've been overclocking for a while now so trust me I know what I'm doing..lol. Nice trolling The4orTy67, yeah I know it's old but It still gets me by just fine. There hasn't been a game yet I can't run so till the day comes that my rig won't run one, I'll be just fine. Me and a friend did some bench marks after he dropped a grand on his new rig. He bought a core i7 2600k and super fast ddr3, don't remember much about the ram didn't care to find out all the specs. Anyways, we both used a gtx 570 and benched 4 games at 1920x1080 BF3,Crysis, Metro 2033, and Resident Evil 5 and he only got right at around 5-10 fps better than me and since I only spent 100 bucks on my rig so far I think I won there. I just spent another 100 on my new gpu, I game at 1680x1050 and 1920x1080 depending where I am so I'll be just fine. I was gonna upgrade but after seeing the cpu bench review for bf3 I put it off. There were no difference in frame rates between 6 cores and 2 at high resolutions. For gaming I'm not digging the hype that is the core i series. Since there are not a lot of people who own gaming pc's that game at low res. to begin with. I only use my pc for gaming. Truth be told the budget for pc upgrades are a little tight and right now a new gpu will net more of an increase then a new cpu or ram. But I do intend to upgrade, just not anytime soon. But man an 8ghz cpu would be pretty friggin awesome!

I have to make a correction as it was not a 2600k, my bad. It was a 950.

Yeah, a 2600k would destroy an old gen dual core anytime. There is a reason it's expensive.
