Man, Woman or It?

Post » Tue Aug 09, 2011 9:17 pm

How would you play a male or female character?

Will you let your female character marry some stinky drunken Nord or is that gross... will your female character be into women?

As a male character do you intend to take a woman or to breed with another species?

Do you want to play a female character so you can make her run naked in the snow? I wonder if they will animate briasts to bounce.

And what about Argonians... how would you feel if someone lifted your tail to check what you were?

I usually play males, but sooner or later I'll make a female character.

Really it comes down to the race. If I'm a female Dunmer I tend to play a "Dunmer Supremacist" who has a distaste for the other races so obviously they aren't marrying some dirty Nord. :P

I will play as a male. If I play as an Argonian I'll be a male too.

I play both really. Lol. It all depends on how late it is... <.<
Seriously though, it all depends on if there is a good vampirism mechanics in the game, because then I'll play a guy.
Or make a girl vampire lolita... <.<

But whatever gender I play, I am going to play an assassin. And I will marry the opposite gender for sure. I am against gay relationships.

My playthoughs are almost always:

1) Female Illusionist/summoner, lawful good. Little charactor planning. Takes fun perks. Does not direct engage in combat, only by minions/henchmen/charmed opponent/summons.

2) Male Theif/Mage, chaotic neutral with a healthy dose of god complex. Min-max gameplay abuser character built with most effective perks and over powered skills to take down entire armies alone

Hahaha the third option is funny! I enjoy playing as a male character because I like to play as if I were such a race or class. No, I don't want to be a woman, thank you.

Lol at all the "briast must bounce" replies.
Then again, I suppose they must happen.

Female as always. I can play a male when the need dictates it, but whenever a gender option is available I immediately go with a female character. Even if they get worse content in many of the games I'm playing.

Probably a claw to the face, but it's actually pretty easy to tell the six of Argonians, in Arena, Daggerfall and Oblivion, they had briasts, but even in Morrowind, there were differences that were noticable enough aside from the voice. They weren't ones someone who never played the game would know, mind you, but as I played the game, it quickly became easy to tell the difference even before they spoke, so the third option is just plain inaccurate.

That aside, though, when given the choice in games, I gladly play both sixes, not at the same time, of course, that would just be weird, and most games don't give the option, but what I mean to say is that I don't constrain myself to a particular six, and instead do whatever I feel like at the time, only playing one six when the game lets me play either one would be such a waste. So which six I'll play in Skyrim depends on what I want to do when I make my character, but unless the unlikely event that I only ever make one character happens, I'll probably end up playing both at some point, it's how I do things.

Usually female. Since I'll be looking at my char for a long time I might just as well make it pleasant to the eye ;)

I am a man in real life, therefore I will play a man in Skyrim. I've never understood why someone would play as a character of the opposite six... Unless they were just being weird/perverted. It would just make me feel less like I was actually my character and in affect lessen the games level of immersion.

Argonians should NOT have briasts. briasts are a physical attribute of mammals NOT reptiles. Lizards dont drink milk, they eat bugs and other lizards and mammals!

Well to be fair, the genders do have different stats from one another even when you're playing the same race. Or at least they did back in Morrowind and I believe Oblivion as well. So if someone was going for an optimized build they would definitely keep the gender of their character on the top of their mind. That and some people just like roleplaying as a different gender, absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Argonians are a different species... Im not saying that Khajit women should have six briasts... well actually - but I digress. Argonian females lay eggs right? They give birth to hatchlings, so hatch from an egg... in the egg is a sack of nutrients that sticks to the new lizard and nourishes them while they learn to hunt for insects. Argonian females do not briastfeed. Its an inaccuracy that should be addressed. Female lizards are often smaller and slimmer than their male counterparts and bare different markings.

I've seen this over and over on these boards, and it always comes down to the same thing. There are two fundamental ways to approach the game:

Some people play as if they are actually in the game.
Other people play as if the character in the game is an entirely separate individual.

The people who don't understand how anyone could play as the opposite gender almost invariably play as if they're the character in the game. For whatever reason, they can't or don't conceive of the possibility of playing the game as if the character is an entirely separate individual, so they just presume that everybody plays the game the way they do, which means that the players who play characters of the opposite gender must be "weird" or "perverted." And they rarely miss a chance to say so.

In reality though, most people who play as opposite genders simply play as if the character in the game is an entirely separate person, so gender is just another defining trait of the character, and has nothing to do with the player.

Todd even uses the term play as an "Argonian lizard" in the context of a Skyrim interview and I think a reptile is a lizard... hmm, lets examine one little bit of their structure... scales... so, you were saying?
