Mananauts & Stuff

Post » Sat Sep 04, 2010 11:23 am

I was just wondering if anybody could link me or give me some more information on the Mananauts, as I can't find much solid on the Imperial Library. I am looking for the stuff somebody mentioned in that thread for the Moon mod. I can't find sources or extrapolations of it.
Alongside that, I was looking for more detailed history of the Reman Dynasty, like texts and stuff.

One other thing. I an stupid, so could somebody who really understand lore break down this MK madness for me:
"Belief-engines, properly called the Auxiliary Semi-Shockpoint Nilgularity, provide energy for short dream-sleeve jumps in case a Vehkships main ego is damaged, allowing the C0DA Paravant to potentially get to the safety of a voidyard orbital.
"By creating the equivalent of an Nu-class Mnemolic, shrinking it instantaneously via a creatia tesseract array, and then projecting the resulting moth-talk well to a nil-point just outside the egos hull, an ASSN can slingshot the Paravant into era-streams without the needed energies of nearby aetheric bodies or shockpoint application.
"The ASSN is strictly Last Ditch technology, however. Its often deemed as too dangerous for its own good, because it works on the rarified principles of Phynasters Inversion, a set of mathematics that doesnt exist in our own dimension. Vehkships have vanished in nil-space trying to make an ASSN jumpindeed, the celestial irregularity known as the M4bV Legerity, in which the C0DA Oblivion Vanquisher appears and implodes in perpetuity, is the belief systems most famous cautionary tale."

It's from the "Made Up Word Round Up" thread from back in 06

Edit: To clarify on the Moon stuff, I want to know exactly where it is said that "Imperial Mananauts had ambitious plans for a Secundun moon base"

I'm no expert on MK-style gibberish, being that I'm not completely stoned*, but in layman's terms, think of that stuff as like a flux capacitor or a hyperspace drive or something. In other words, it's standard science fiction (with some magic thrown in for good measure) mumbo jumbo used to handwave the plausibility of space travel in a universe that doesn't really have space.

*not that I endorse this sort of thing.

Don't take it too seriously. It sets a mood and atmosphere. All I'm getting from it: When the ego is damaged, start acting like an ass and run for safety. :)

Not much is known about the Mananauts. Just that they exist as mentioned in the Third PGE.

The Moon Colony, I believe that was something that got pitched as an idea.

The Mananauts were mentioned in the PGE 3E as well as the http://www.imperial-library.info/obscure_text/census_daedra.shtml. They seem to be involved in things outside of Tamriel. I suspect they make use of teleportation or portals to other planes.

I have no idea, but...

Mananauts understand some other way for the soul to interlope in foreign realms, through Aetherial transfiguration, to match another self. They keep doing so, until they've bridged all, allowing the navigator to choose which consciousness they desire to commune through. Building stars, perhaps?

In anthropological discourse, mana as a generalized concept has attained a significant amount of interest, often understood as a precursor to formal religion. It has commonly been interpreted as "the stuff of which magic is formed", as well as the substance of which souls are made.

So Mana is magic and souls and stuff.

coined 1929 (but popularized 1961) from astro-, comb. form of Gk. astron "star" + nautes "sailor." Fr. astronautique (adj.) had been coined 1927 by "J.H. Rosny."
Online Etymology Dictionary, ? 2001 Douglas Harper

so "naut" comes from sailor.

Mananaut: Magicalsailor :: Astronaut : Starsailor.

Mananauts would be people who voyeged into magic and souls/ realms of magical beings (anything in the TES universe)
