Manual for fallout 1

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:33 am

Hi! Sadly I missed this game when it was released. Read a review for fallout 3 and thought I'd start with fallout one and two first.
Found a copy at amazon. Ordered it. Recieved same. Only it is bare bones. Just a disk! Tried to play it. but it is very frustrating with ZERO idea how to interface with the game. How do I attack? How to move around?

I managed to actually move over to vault 15 and fight a few rats on the way. But it was very frustrating. Have no idea how to HIT the rats even after killing a couple. Seemed that double clicking was working sometimes, that is clicking both buttons at once. Other times clicking just one button seemed to work.

Anyway. Is there someplace where I can read through the manual and find out how I am supposed to interface with this game?

Thanks Ausir for making my post redundant. Kids these days have it too easy. Back in my days we had to work for what we wanted you know? Like follow a link, then another link, and then maybe we got a download. You can't just give it to them on a silver platter ... ; )

I was all prepared to thank everyone for pointing out that the manual would on the cd; or even installed by the install program on my hard drive in the fallout folder. Which it is.

Shortly after making this post and then logging off I slapped my forehead and said, 'Dummy, its on the CD'. Then spent a few minutes looking forward to finding posts belittling me for being so dumb.

Yet none of you pointed this out. So while there was a post complaining about 'young people today' needing to be spoon fed at least no one pointed out this particular short coming.

As always, Thanks for the help all.

Fallout 1/2 are widely available in a download format, so not everyone has a CD to reference.

Fallout is one of the very few games of the last decade where the original manual is worth buying a new copy of the game to replace it.
(I lost mine in the Katrina Hurricane)

Well, I've never seen an 'original' Fallout box set, so I don't think I'll be getting hold of the original manual anytime soon :P My manual is safely on my new trilogy CD I bought yesterday :P Then again, I don't think I've ever given the Fallout manuals a good once over. Coming to terms with the features in FO1 took me some time, but I got the hang of it in the end :P

The manual was a spiral bound "Vault issue" orientation guide with censored pages crossed out by the overseer, and even Tim's recipes in the back.

Tim's recipes..Why does that ring a bell >_< Maybe something I read in the Fallout bible? I have no idea :P But that sounds pretty sweet :D I'd get hold of one of those if I could. Sorry you lost yours fella >_< I hope that's all you lost, though :)
