So many Daedra in this game

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 6:30 pm

I hope in the DLC we will see the return of more Daedra. I find the lack of Daedra in this Elder Scrolls title to be...disappointing, to say the least.

Where are scamps? Clanfears? Daedroth? Hungers? Golden saints? Dark seducers? Xivalai? Spider daedra?

I wish the Daedra were more prominent in Skyrim.

I was thinking the same thing.

Your title is misleading. "So many daedra". I came in here thinking I was going to find out where they were :)

I don't mind their absence. Oblivion had enough to last me a lifetime.

I'm glad they aren't.

I like them, I do. But I prefer for each region to have its own ecospheres and not just copy the enemies of the last games.

Weren't Oblivion mostly about Daedra? They probably wanted to put the focus elsewhere.

Most of those Daedra belong to Mehrunes Dagon. Since he isn't playing as big a role in this game as he did in Oblivion, it would make sense that his daedra don't show up as much. There weren't many of those in Morrowind either.

Well, with the exception of Golden Saints (Sheogorats Exclusive), Dark Seducers (Sheogorat as well) I agree with you, we need more Daedra.

With this setting trough, I think that they should be limited to some locations only. A Xivalai in the middle of the Fall Forest don't see fitting to me.

As I understand it, each ES game occurs in a different part of the world...I guess this region hasn't got them? (Also, according to the online info, it's 200 years later...maybe there was a genocide?)

With the absence of Daedra, and the presence of creatures like Dragons, giants, mammoths, etc. the enemies in Skyrim just seem to be too much of the generic fantasy category to me.

I guess I will just have to hope that for the next game, five or so years from now, Bethesda will wisen up and make the next game more similar to Morrowind in that it was more of an alien world with strange creatures rather than a familiar world with generic fantasy creatures and creatures that exist on Earth.

Well, I'm sure all Daedric Princes have daedra but Bethesda hasn't sat down and thought them up yet. And if they have, they didn't put them into the game. I bet Clavicus Vile has daedric minions.

So are Imps and Devils, but you want them.

Yeah! Way to jerk my chain.. :sadvaultboy:

I was really looking forward to seeing the updated look of the Daedra. Their absence is more distressing than I could have imagined, especially after how many we saw in Oblivion.

Some of the most iconic creatures from the Elder Scrolls. I'm hoping they come up with a new more mystical setting in one of the dlc's. I'm loving the terrain of Skyrim but its definitely lacking in the more fantastical areas.

If daedra were the big bad enemy like they were in Oblivion there would be so many people crying about copy and pasting Oblivion. While I dot mind I there were more I like the fact that Skyrim has its own brand of enemies.

Well well, I don't really miss them, even though I am a Scamp myself. Oblivion had too many, and scamps svcked in Oblivion (compared to Morrowind scamps), so probably they wouldn't have been done right anyway.

Agree 100%. More Daedra and random encounters = good thing. Hopefully someone will champion this cause and mod it once the CK is released.

It's just that I don't see Sheogorat wanting to "share" his servants with Conjurers, while Mehrunes is very willing to do so (Dremoras, Scamps, etc).

Done right? I thought that because the Daedra were a brain-child of Bethesda, any way they recreated them would be "done right". ;)

I wasn't expecting to see the same numbers we saw in Oblivion, but I was definitely hoping for more than just the Atronachs. DLC is our best hope for seeing more Daedra now..

I have a different opinion.

I think Daedra were done to death in Oblivion and I'm glad to have a bit of a respite from them.

I'm VERY happy to see dragons as a major plot. There have always been hints of dragons in previous games. There's a baby dragon mob in Daggerfall. I think Redguard had a dragon although I didn't finish the game so don't know for sure (didn't take to that style as it wasn't a true RPG). LIkewise, in at least some of the chracter generation sequences (or maybe just that of Daggerfall, I can't remember now) there's reference to the dragons.

So dragons have always been in the background. They just haven't been major characters until now.

As for me, I love dragons. I consider them by far the best fantasy creature with nothing else even close. I'm happy to see them. From what I've seen so far I think they've done a pretty good job considering it's a single player RPG so the dragon had to be killable by a single person.

I haven't finished the game so don't know how it all turns out, but I hope there's a lingering dragon presence in future TES games after all is said and done.

I'm actually glad that I have yet to even glimpse the hint if there being such creatures as daedra in this realm. Oblivion had so many that it made me sick. Plus it makes sense this is skyrim, not so many people looking to summon any.

There are other ways for Daedra to enter Mundus. The front door may have been bolted shut, but the back gate can be opened from the inside.
