So many Dragons!

Post » Fri Jun 11, 2010 9:53 pm

As some of you may or may not know Christopher Paolini's 4th and final book in his "Inheritance Cycle" is scheduled for release November 8th, 2011 just three days before Skyrim comes out.

Any Eragon fans out there? I've been waiting just as long for this book to come out as I have been for Skryim. I'm gonna try and read the whole thing before Skyrim comes out, it will give me a nice taste of dragons in preparation for Skyrim.

Holy crap, really? I love the series, but had forgotten all about it in the past few months, now I'm doubly excited for November. Oh crap, I'll have to figure out how to split up my time. I'm a fast reader, but like to read for fun slowly, there's no way I'll finish before Skyrim's out! :P

Big fan of the books, not so much the so called "movie." I am never going to have my thirst quenched for dragons. I love them. I am super stoked for Skyrim. When they said dragons were going to be the new creature you fight in the game I got very excited. And so did my girlfriend's 9 year old brother... I felt very immature that day... BUT it was great!!

Yes the movie was a major let down, but I love the books. I hope he does a great job at wrapping up the series!

I thought dragons were benevolent and rare in the TES lore?

Yep, but read up on your Skyrim lore, things have changed. I won't spoil it all for you, but Alduin has returned, and dragons are coming back to take what's theirs.

Liked the first book when I was like...12. The second one was meh. Didn't bother with the 3rd. Glad that he managed to wrap it up in 4, though, rather than stretching it out indefinitely.

Oh, awesome! I've been waiting for that book for so long! Thank you for announcing it here ^_^

I'll definitely be playing Skyrim too, but the only thing is that both those release dates are around the time that my exams start, so it could be a few weeks until I can get into them.

And yes, the movie was AWFUL.

I enjoyed the first two books years back, and I was excited when I got my hands on the third book, but it got so boring half-way through or so that I haven't read it in a long time and I don't plan to finish it. I guess I won't be getting the fourth book.

I read the first book and didn't bother afterwards. The movie was a big TOLDYA! to some friends of mine, who then finally agreed that the plot is, essentially, an exact replica of A New Hope.

Really? Why? The first time I read the books I didn't enjoy them that much, but then I reread them all last year and liked them a whole lot more.

I found the movie to be quite horrid and unspeakable. I wish not to speak of this matter again, should you wish.

Fixed :D Anyways, I can't wait I am literally falling off the chair!

Book 4 of the Inheritance Cycle? That's the best entertainment news I've heard since Skyrim was announced! And I'll have a whole three days to read it! That's more than enough (I'm a fast reader).

I really hope Hollywood leave the rest of the Inheritance Cycle alone. The one movie they did make was such an atrocity that I almost ripped out my eyes and ate them after watching what little I could stomach of it (about 15 minutes).

I though the movie was entertaining in a laugh-at-the-train-wreck sort of way.

Not for me. I read the first two books but never really liked them. My brother does though, so for him I was hoping that the film would be at least of the same quality as the book, so my expectations weren't very high. Still, when I saw that they turned the Urgals into a bunch of black dudes who can't speak properly for unexplained reasons I died a little inside.

Haha yeah the Eragon movie actually made me want to become a director a remake that movie....the way it was supposed to. I don't understand what happened with the movie because Christopher was helping them make the movie which is why it took him a little longer to finish the next book. Like what the heck was with the shade ridding some shadow thing at the end of the movie???

Also I liked the first two books, and the third was good too, but it seemed like it was full of things that didn't need to be there. It was almost as if Eragon was doing a bunch of 'side quests' instead of completing the main storyline like he should.

I recently read the first book and absolutely loved it. I got about half way through the second book before giving up, it was pretty slow and boring.

My guess is that it was the author introducing a few plot elements, so when he pulled them out of no where to fight Galbatorix, they'd be a Chekhov's Gun rather than just a plan old Dues Ex Machina.

I read the first two books - which I loved - when I was at boarding school (a lot of free time) and the third a couple of years later when it came out. I enjoyed it significantly less, probably due to my tastes changing, so I'm not holding high hopes for the fourth, but I'll probably read it nonetheless.

There's way too many dragons.. Why are there so many dragons? The brochure said there'd only be a few dragons!
