So many forced STUPID decisions.. makes it not even fun

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 11:21 pm

Spoiler
I'm not even talking about tough decisions, but really really stupid ones.

Join the Legion or the Stormcloaks before you can trap a dragon in dragons reach. So much for a neutral option!

Here let me write the 3rd option for you guys "You see you should leave Whiterun alone because if you don't I can't kill Alduin and we all [censored] die. Agreeable? KK thx have a nice war!". Was that so hard?

Or heres another one that leaves me pissed off at the blades. I just save Nirn. Like, all of it. Hooray I just killed the only dragon that really matters! There are a couple of really cool dragons that helped me do it too! Theres this guy named Parthanax hes my new best friend!

Blade's PMS'ing [censored]s: "Yeah thats nice thanks for saving the world and whatever.. KILL PARTHANAX OR WE'LL NEVER TALK TO YOU AGAIN. WE'RE FULLY CAPABLE OF DOING THIS WITHOUT YOU BUT WE WANT YOU TO FEEL GUILTY ABOUT MURDERING YOUR OWN DRAGON BFF! NOW GET OUT!"

Jesus [censored] christ when did everybody in Tamriel become such an ungrateful [censored]? This doesn't even feel open ended anymore. Parth doesn't offer any additional content and the Blades do. The Blades are my ticket to destroying the thalmor, Parth already did everything for me that he could. That was a really, really [censored] stupid "choice" to have to make. Accomplished nothing other than making the blades look like a bunch of [censored]heads.

You don't have to join the stormcloaks or the legion to do the MQ... do you?

Spoiler
As for the dragon buddy just find all the words of power and then kill him, not exactly a nice thing to do but if you just want him while he's useful then thats the way to do it.

Um...
I did the main quest and I wasn't force to join the Imperials or Stormcloaks.
I wasn't force to kill my dragon BBF because he is till alive.
The Blades svck now.

That's my input to the thread.

I hate it when roleplaying bars your access to content.
"Sure, my character's evil, doesn't give a [censored] about your missing child, and would rather just kill you and take the money, but I guess I'll help you because if I do every quest like this I won't be getting my money's worth for this game."

I like Skyrim and have 300+ hours I also played Vegas 11 times from start to finish. Trust me, There's no choices in Skyrim. OP is correct. Choice is choosing who gets the hoover damn, choice is not Join the mages or don't get the shouts.

People in Tamriel being ungrateful and unreasonable?

*looks at Daggerfall*

*shudders*

Those fellows were unreasonable.

This is manageable.

Loading up an old save. Gen. Tullius disrespecting the greybeards, while Stormcloak holds them in high regard.
Empire bringing Thalmor to the council, even the chief Talos worshiper hunter, while Stormcloaks would have her head on a pike.
Blades wanting to kill parthanax...

If I have to choose between a giant [censored] and a [censored] taco, so be it. Ulfric will be my ticket to revenge against the thalmor, and wont make me kill my buddy parthanax thus pissing of the greybeards.

Alright thanks empire and blades for your help. The writers at bethesda have made the decision for me, empire deserves to fall and so do the blades.

Here are some cute ones:

-You have to join the College in order to progress through the MQ at all, otherwise you can't get passed the front gate for a specific quest.
-Can't gain access to one of the crypts (Saarthal) when you're given a word of power quest by Arngeir. Why you ask? Because the door is locked and you need to join the College of Winterhold first.

Spoiler
And the Blades? [censored] them. Just a bunch of ignorant members who cling to their old testament principles. Thalmor are systematically hunting and destroying members of the Blades, and the biggest [censored] threat to the Blades, to my surprise, is a Dragon sitting at the peak of High Hrothgar. What a [censored] joke. I can't kill the [censored]s because they're essential and even if I use the console to remove their essential tags, I get nothing out of it, because I can't start the order anew in order to face the real threat. Their roots may have been Dragon hunters, but before that, the Blades didn't exist until Tiber Septim conveniently decided to make them his personal eyes and ears across Tamriel. If he can suddenly make them his personal bodyguards and spies, then I can make them my personal anti-Thalmor iniquisition...oh wait I can't.

Yeah, sure I'll help you keep the dam, gotta lot of respect for the troopers on the ground, as long as you leave the followers in peace.

Now where's my precious choice?

Are we asking to do everything, making no difficult choices, and to please everybody, and get everything you want regardless of everyone else's wishes and prejudices, and demanding that as a viable choice?

Assuming you know where to find Septimus before starting that quest, you don't need to join the College at all.

Your... "third option" Is exactly what my character picked... and it worked out just fine :disguise:

Though i agree about your second point... that really annoyed me >_> like after the game "Oh thanks for doing all that, but i still hate you unless you finish my quest" /sigh

If only there was an option to do so without having any prior knowledge to his existence or whereabouts. On later playthroughs I'll know exactly where to go, but for others that have no idea where he might be? [censored] out of luck.

I found septimus while out exploring... a week later(in real time, not game time) i started the main quest and when they asked for the scroll i already happened to have it :P I love moments where i can just say "Oh, you mean this old thing?" -pulls out object- :D

You don't have to join them to finish. Cast the spell Feralda wants or tell her you're Dragonborn and shout, then she'll let you in. Then enter either of the Mages Quarters, go up the stairs, through the door to the outside, then run along the pathway. You'll get to a door that leads to the library, where you're supposed to go. Hell, I just ran right past everyone and went into the side doors in the main hall and no one came up to me and said "You must join or else, you get an auto-death" or something. And even if you get the quest, you could always do what any logical person would do: ignore it. "It forces me" is invalid and shows a lack of common sense as it is like me seeing your post and saying that you forced me to read and reply.

your point about the blades is invalid because the blads do not exist in skyrim, it is jsut some idiot who thinks the blades were akavir dragon slayers that came to tamriel for some idiotic reason (when all the dragons were in akavir, not tamriel), and someone lying to the old man and playing along with his delusions untill she gets whatever it is she wants

(the mere mention of the blades gets me sorta pissed about how royally screwed they got and how horribly this conincides with the lore, it may fit but only just)

OT: i was not aware there was any choice beyond "ignore (not decline since we lack the knowledge of what we do and do not want to do, apperently) this or do it" but i have not noticed it that much (usually caught up in the moment  )
