So many skills so little classes

Post » Wed Jan 15, 2014 12:04 am

The first thought about this was when I tried to make "Ranger" or Archer. I know about Bosmers perks that increase bow damage. But bow skills have all races and classes. So Archer is not unique. Archer could be Templar with heavy Armor but it's still Templar, he heals itself and doing ranged damage. It's not as efficient as it's class skills that give bonuses to melee damage. Why then use bow if use have no special bonuses and you don't have efficient skills to use with bow?

P.S.:I'm asking because maybe I'm misunderstanding some points of skills and perks. I really like ranged DD role and when playing Sorcerer I was happy enough, but with archer it was really annoying.

P.P.S.:Sorry for my grammar.

From reading the developers' comments on the ESO website, it appears that the class is just supposed to be something to ground your prefered style of play on. The massive amount of customisation available means that you don't need lots of class templates. It's a bold move that I'm sure lots of traditional Elder Scrolls players will come to expect. It remains to be seen if balance can be maintained at end game, but hopefully it can.

So you can show your class by using your choice skills, and not to have your class choose skills for you.

Well yeah, my main point is about balance and not about gameplay. Start point give one class extra damage when sneaking (which is little absurd because it take some time to become hidden) and the other class it give instant cast + knockback and all other skills could be the same. Would be silly if you will have Sorcerer with shield and sword and you will be using stamina abilities and not spells. Again bonuses are better on light armor so theoretically you can, bout "You will have a bad time" because IMHO practically it's worthless.

Not really sure what you're asking here, but most combinations are viable, some may be more effective than others. But by all means try a heavy armour archer, the heavy armour will improve survivability for you.

You say that, but from ES fans I know that is exactly what they want. I agree that balance will be the key test as to whether this freedom of customisation works or not, but it's well worth the experiment. If they can pull it off, at least for all but the most hardcoe players, then I can see myself really get into this game.

It will increase only defense. I'm talking little about skills. As Archer you only have weapon skills that are good with bow. As sorcerer you have 12 skills (class + destruction stuff) little unfair.

As TES fan I enjoy my heavy armor-wizard-archer in Skyrim, but it different level of play, where broken balance could mean he half of server will ONLY advance in Blacksmithing and Warrior guild because that's optimal skill aggregation with most damage dealing.

multiple methods of attack to serve at different points in combat or changing combat scenarios. You cant be best at everything but should need to do multiple types of attacks depending on whats happening around you. And that's just my general impression of mmo combat as I would not want to be talking about specific game experiences with any game under NDA.

Absolutely not. All class abilities use magicka. Sorc has a number of pbaoes and self-buffs in its Storm Calling tree, and Encase is just as useful to stop enemies running away as it is to help you run away.
