Ideally, I would like a MW's fast travel system with no map markers, but from the evidence of facts that are known, there will be fast travel, ala Oblivion, but there may not be map markers, as evident that NPCs will give detailed directions and sometimes act as guides.

I voted other. Give me Red Dead Redemption fast travel. For those that haven't played it it was like this;

1) You can hire coaches at towns to take you to other towns, or place your own custom marker on your map and have the driver bring you to it, or at least close to it if it was off-road.

2) You could use a campfire kit from your inventory to set up a campfire in the game world where you could travel to any town or to a custom map marker (even if off-road), could also change clothes and save at them but thats not relavant to TES.

That way, you get both MW and OB fast travelling so you can use whichever method you prefer, or neither if you prefer walking/riding. ^_^

SOUNDS GOOD.

My main point however is in the quest markers. Imagine how much more fun it would be to actually solve puzzles and get rewarded.

and yet again you NEVER had to use quest markers in Oblivion

I agree RDR had the best fast travel. Also, Todd howard said in one of the early interviews (i think the three part one) that he liked how RDR handled some stuff, so you never know.

...Oblivions, in both directions.

Finding a dungeon without a marked location on the map is as hard as finding a fist-sized Dwarven Puzzle Box in a massive dungeon.

^ This.

You were given a clear message by the moderator to go and discuss this in one of the other open fast travel threads, this thread is simply a repost of information already in those and does not deserve YET ANOTHER thread on the same subject.

Tip: Deliberately posting the same thread after a moderator has locked the previous one is a sure fire way to get in trouble.

I want Morrowind fast travel, and OPTIONAL fast travel and OPTIONAL quest markers.
I do not like hand holding while doing quest, that's part of the fun of questing. I also hate immersion breaking fast travel. It's unrealistic and should be optional.
However, I'm guessing that we'll have no choice but to use it.

But they rarely gave you actual directions to a place (usually just a mark on your map) and never that I recall to a person. So yes, you did have to use them at least some, if not most of the time.

I understand why they are including OB fast travel. Some people just can't be bothered. But to give us that and no other option would be just as bad as to have only the Morrowind style. Why can't Beth put in the little extra effort to make everybody happy? It's really not a resource heavy project. Designate hubs, delineate methods of travel, routes, and prices. Yes, mods can add it in (just as easily as Beth could) but there's Xbox players to account for, and hey, modder's could also add a Main Quest but we kind of expect the game to ship with certain things already in place.

Absolutely no map markers = big trouble

The last thing I need is nothing but audio cue. They should at least incorporate some kind of visual marker, something like "the dungeon you're looking for, good sir, is pretty much around here, now if you want to look for it, you better go there and search within the boundaries I've set for you"

That would at least save some frustration from looking for an unknown dungeon, and cut the time to get to action.

I'm all for puzzles, but even puzzles give you visual hints

you say you dont want any help with quests. You are told what to do in Oblivion just very vaguely, so if you did exploring by yourself you would know, and a few were actually really specific, like the quest when you killed rufio. And hardcoe fans that want no fast travel are a minority of the people that play TES, so bethesda probably wont bother with it, I dont see why people just dont limit themselves with fast travel, like only fast travel in cities.

You are right. You must have read those rules we all agreed to follow when we joined. :twirl:

OP: Please use another open thread about fast travel. Don't start another one or you will be warned and suspended for several days.

Oh, and please read our rules. :read:
