Map overcramped!

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 11:10 am

You might love it , but it makes absolutely no sense , its not a wasteland , its not a postatomic world , its an FPS feast with just enemies to kill at every corner .

This is ruining immersion and fidelity to lore .

^^ i agree

ive never encountered that many enemies in the wilderness.

often im searching out encounters as it can get a little 'lonely'

ive only ever encountered mutiple enemies in a small small inside cities or built up areas.

i like it that there is always some new place to see and explore.

its the most important part of any beth game - exploration!!

that is maybe u, i only encounter stuff like that downtown Boston where i come across Diamond guards fighting Super mutants, i help out a caravan fighting Synth when i was walking around, and then i come across Ghouls infected zones and like that

But never one after the other i have spend alot walking w/o cumming across nothing or maybe some moles rats.

on a game perspective, when u make a player walk for 20m w/o finding nothing is bored dude. This isnt a simulation is a game it suppose to be fun. Forest can be represent easily w/o been huge, something i come to like on Skyrim and hate on the Witcher.

There is alot to explore more that Fallout 3 and NV, there are alot of building that are open (no load screen) so u can just walk around or they are interconnect with walkways or the rooftops. Actually the cities now look alot better that what they did on Fallout 3.

Do the out of city areas get more dense as you move further from Vault 111?

The map isn't so dense around the starting point but I would expect that. I've trecked as far as Diamond City and found a few things out of the towns but in some areas there are very few things of note.

I walked the north border too and came across the scavenger and a few mirelurks but not a lot else other than the satellite.

This is the future of the series unfortunately. More FPS, more stuff to kill. Pew pew pew

Witcher 3 maps is amazing, shame FO4 is not that big.

I know, and all this content is killing people's immersion!

Seriously though, I do agree that some settlements do seem to be little overly close together, but the complaints saying that there are too many enemies in the world isn't matching up with my experience at all. Unless I'm running into a location point, I'm not really encountering many enemies randomly in the wilderness. Most of my journeys from one location to another are pretty peaceful.

The city is very, very cramped. Almost every turn is a group of mutants or raiders with Mark auto-guns - I mean, I know this is post-war 200 years which would merit plenty of time for groups to establish compounds in the city, but not to this extent. Many of the quests play like pure FPS games. I am finding Fallout 4 more reminansnt of Borderlands than Fallout 1/2.

This game should be more focused on survival aspects, like food, water, sleep, limited carrying supply, and less waves after waves of enemies to plough through.

And, why are there so many Super Mutants scattered throughout Boston? What is the reasoning behind their presence? It just seems tacked on for no established, logical reason.

sooo many buildings in here you can't go into. With the amount of crap in this map, its awful barren in places it shoudln't be.

Let's see how far the natural map extends outward when the Geck comes out.

ohh good lord is the same as DC was on Fo3. Why ppl keep making so much fuse about something that was the same before, it was the same on NV when u go near Nelis and u have raiders everywhere. Ppl should stop QQ about so much.

Had the same feeling , also the adoption of the. New cartoonish look with iversaturated colors and plain reliefs contribute to the borderlands effect .

I feel like the map size is about right, but I was taken aback by how many buildings are boarded up. Hopefully somebody does a "DC Interiors" mod for this game.

The map size of witcher 3 was excellent and was still filled with plenty of stuff.

Its not "cartoonish," and the color palette fits with the 50s theme.

Witcher 3 map is nice for looking at it is horrible when it come down to gameplay, there are ALOT of place with nothing, and dont make me speak about Skelleg isle map that map is just wrong. Only way to play that map is with fast travel (i guess is the reason they allow u to buy each camp map as soon as u reach that map)

I prefer maps that are good design and dont have endless forest just to make it look nice.

I thought this thread was going to be about the u.i. map.. Which I was going to agree with. Trying to set a marker is really, really hard because the icons are too big and they get in the way.

As for the map being dense.. yeah, man. It's jam packed. I really like it. There's stuff to do and see everywhere. I was fending off some raiders, backing down a hill and ended up drawing a Yao Guai out of a cave. I just stood up and ran at the raiders.. luckily the tactic sort of worked and the yao guai and raiders got into it. But then I had to fend off the Yao Guai.. which didn't really go so well. I died.
