Map of post war USA

Post » Sun May 16, 2010 12:30 pm

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has ever attempted to make a map of america after the war? A quick google search didn't yield much. I realize most of the area is still unknown to us. What I really want is a map of the area around the Mojave during the period New Vegas is set in; I like to give my characters a back story and it'd be easier to say where they were from if I could see which areas are controlled by Caesar, which are NCR, and which are neither. Just wondering if there is a map like this out there somewhere. I'd try making one myself, but I never played the original Fallouts, so I don't think I'm very well suited to the task.

Anyone know of something like this? Thanks in advance :)

Kinda funny that none of the multiple game companies that have had a hand in the series have developed this.

There are game maps, i have a ton from the net, a large folder dedicated to all the fallouts, maps, artwork and the such, you could assemble them, but they would only be of that time period in which that game was set, and no expansion over time since those events took place.

You really think anyone would chart the world just after a nuclear halocaust?

I bet someone would. It's not exactly a crazy idea. Not as crazy as, say, selling tiny souvenir rockets and dinosaurs out of a giant dinosaur just outside Las Vegas...

Besides I'm not asking for a real, in game, map. I'm not even that bothered about how accurate it is. I just want a rough idea of who controls what in the area surrounding the Mojave.

No locations marked 'cept Vegas, Chicago, Vault 0, Carbon, Lost Hills, Camp Navarro, Raven Rock, D.C. and those BoS and Enclave bunkers outside Vegas.
And the territory borders are just rough estimations on my part aswell.

Thanks very much! That's exactly what I wanted, just to get an idea of it all. Cheers! :)

That doesn't help. That comes from a cancelled table top game J.E Sawyer was working on.

Not really.

Controll exists as far as you can shoot. Its extremely localised.

There are no formal borders, your territory is whatever you're currently defending, and can defend right now.

Okay, smack me for being dumb, but why is upper New England marked?

EDIT: Nevermind, that's probably a guess at Commonwealth borders...

Oh yes, see my little text box above the map with the faction names in the same colors as the borders?

Thats actually really cool but do we really think the MwBoS has that much territory under their control? Im not complaining because they're one of my favorite factions in the series but it just seems kind of generous.

Well we know they started tactics in Chicago; and ended at cheyene mountain; the locals are known to supply them and receive protection from them.

Otoh there's no current evidence to suggest any other major factions projecting power other than some likely limited enclave presence in Chicago.

Well, it's a rough estimation. Their territory reach from Chicago to Vault 0 in Cheyenne Mountains (probably real-life NORAD), but I don't know the width of it. The map that is provided in Tactics is kind of hard to adjust to a map like this. They did seize a lot of towns on their way there, north and south. I kind of drew the borders a bit far outside these towns, I'd expect them control and expand a little more in those directions. Anyways, as I said - rough estimation.

I wonder what Bethesda will do with the Midwestern Brotherhood. I am glad they made them canon and consider the high level events of Tactics canon. Still they have said that they have fallen on hard times and said to be a small group. It can easly be said that their numbers are far greater then reported to Lyons. As for the hard times, I have to believe they did fall on hard times. Many have seen my dream ending theory to Tactics so no need to post it again. It has been 80 some odd years timeline wise since the End of Tactics. Seeing as how far they managed to expand in only a year or so, in 80 years they should have taken over most of America and made contact with the Original BoS. We know this is not the case. Something has caused them to stop expanding.

I feel they conrtol large numbers but are spreed out throught the Midwestern United States, in strongholds such as Vault Zero and Chicago. I doubt they still control all the area they captured during the events of Tactics.

I used the maps at http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_world and other info from the wiki to create this rough draft of a map.

the only problem with your rough draft of the map is that you didn't circle Arroyo, The den, and Klamath as being part of the NCR when several comments in New Vegas show they are. Also broken hills is in NCR lands though no one lives there anymore and the abbey, though cut from the retail version of Fallout 2, is likely in NCR lands as well.

plus, i'm an australian, and even i know texas is it's own republic, so it wouldn't become a commonwealth...and that's always [censored] me about the 13 commonwealths, but when i figured out that the us on fallout wikia may not b 100% canon i felt better....

i did try and make a map at some stage cause i wanted to see where everything was..but places like broken banks, the big empty etc can only be speculated at the moment...we will have to wait...

Yeah, that is really good! But as Somtaaw said, there needs to be a few adjustments.
But this does show close CL's and MWBoS' territories are, and that it is very possible that they will meet and fight eachother sometime.
