Map suggestion

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 1:05 am

In Oblivion, the whole outline of the available area is shown on the map once you finish the tutorial section. I know icons appear only when you discover them - and I don't want to change that. But I'd like it if there was some differentiation between areas that have been explored - and don't contain any sights of interest - and areas that are still waiting to be explored. For example, areas of the map that have been visited could be shaded a darker colour on the map. That way it would be easier to see areas you haven't visited.

Me Gusta. Oddly enough it's from everyone's favorite game, Morrowind.

Yeah...I think you'd still have to include the major (and possibly) minor cities. Helps with navigation if you're not using the magic compass.

I hated the Morrowind map, I could never figure out why I couldn't just but a full map, I'm sure they would exist.

The map is now a 3d representation of the world. Slick!

When I go to the store and buy a map, it usually has everything on it already.

This
Although in MW you could fill in locations of the settlements by talking to knowledgable people like scouts and savants

But with things so crammed-together, the unexplored areas already are effectively clouded: An area beyond a certain fairly small size with no location markers in it obviously hasn't been explored, since anywhere you stand (assuming Oblivion size and location density) there are multiple locations nearby showing up on the magic location locator compass.

lol what i mean by fill it out is add dungeons or caves or places of interest to it gradually, the cities and towns can be on there already that makes perfect sense but why would it have every dungeon or cave :]

Except they've said there will be a lot less dungeons than Oblivion in a similar area
Also if its at all similar to FO3 in this respect a lot of minor locations won't get map markers either
