Mapping New Keys

Post » Thu Dec 03, 2015 5:07 am

Hi All,

Seeing a lot of posts on here regarding the inability to rebind certain keys, specifically the KeyPad. I am one of those odd fellows that has been using the NumPad to navigate around since the year dot. I have also been coming across more and more games like this that have locked the NumPad. (Usually console ports, lets hope thats not a bad sign).

Anyhow, I have been using GlovePie for years, a free program (Google it, don't want to upset any moderators), used it with Fallout 3 too, which allows you to remap whatever keys you want for specific games. (i.e Key Press A will now equal NumPad 8, etc). Have tested it on Fallout 4 and it works perfectly.

I'm sure the game will be 'fixed' at some point in the near future to allow you to choose whatever keys you want, but until then give GlovePie a go.

Its very simple to use but if you need any advice just ask.

Happy Gaming All.

Thanks for your post! I'll check it out as soon as I get home. Sounds like just what I need to save the Fallout 4 experience for me.

Thanks for trying to help, but I just tried this (the most recent version) and it was ridiculously - not user friendly.

It also the "help" pop up notes kept referring to midi output not keybord output even though I selected keyboard output.

Maybe you are using an old version that was not so complicated?

What version are you using?

Can you post your "script" for this?

Thanks again.

edit:

ok I just started pressing buttons at random until I got some results, I now have this script and the basic language makes sense to me now:

Key.E = Keyboard.BackSpace
Key.Space = Keyboard.NUMPAD0
I still have a big problem, when I hit the NUMPAD0 I do in fact JUMP as I want, but I ALSO use a stimpack as per the game's reserved binding. How do I STOP the game from seeing the NUMPAD0 pressed so I only jump?
I would have thought this glovepie program would have blocked sending the NUMPAD0 key to the game and NOT just send both the Space key and NUMPAD0 key at the same time.
EDIT 2:
I used this to "BLOCK" the NUMPAD0 key by mapping it to NUMPAD9 key: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/map-any-key-to-any-key-on-windows-xp-vista/
so yeah, TWO programs. one to block the numpad key, the other to remap the keys... :shakehead:
But it all works finally, and now I can play the game without bangining my head against the glass monitor and then in disgust going to the refund tab on steam.
thank god...
