I'm curious about the abominations and evolved centaurs.

abominations? Are they like the failed FEV subjects in Vault 87?

I'm very curious as well to see these creatures. This is one of the things I look forward to the most. I'd like to see the Abominable Snowman roaming around Jacobstown. Although this is not likely. =P

If they do have the appearance of a crab and there is no explanation as to how crabs came to inhabit the middle of the desert, I will be modding them out, even if there are quests involved.

There still are large bodies of water in the North and Eastern area of New Vegas. Nobody said anything about them living right in the middle of the the Kelso Dunes.
Also, they are called Lakelurks to separate them from Mirelurks. Which probably means they don't need actual water of miry quality to survive.

*rewatches the trailer*

...I don't see how the Somethinglurks that are in the trailer look like crabs. Unless I'm missing something.

If I remember correctly, the only thing shown where Mirelurk kings. And those could very well have been placeholders, as were the muties in the same trailer. Actually, the catfish heads would fit right onto the same build the snapping turtle mutations were on in F3.

The muties in the trailer weren't placeholders, they were the same muties we've seen in the latest screenshots, the green (or gray, if we're talking about Nightkins) ones with lips and facestraps. This doesn't bar the Mirelurk kings-lookalike from being placeholders, it was just myself being nitpicky. :P
