Maps of other continents and a question about other planets

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 1:52 am

I'm looking for maps of other continents besides Tamriel. Any maps will do, including fan made with some lore accuracy. Can you give me some pointers?

Is it said anywhere in the lore that people can travel to other planets or moons by magic means or whatever?

Here's a not very correct map of Nirn:

Travel to other planets is AFAIK impossible, because there are no other planets. The moons and stars are et'Ada, gods, not other worlds.

There aren't many available maps of Nirn since few people have left Tamriel long enough to make them but there's the occasional detail

might wana check out the Imperial Mananauts and the Sunbirds of Alinor, they are as close as we get to space travel (they traveled to the Aetherius, not to other planets)

the maps Mafio and Simonp posted are fan made, we have no information on the geography of any continents besides Tamriel and Yokuda (which is an archipelago of islands nowdays, and its look as a continent proper is not revealed to us). Aldmeris aint even a corporeal continent...

What's the source of the Akavir maps? I thought we didn't have one? (And considering that the maps which show Akavir also show Aldermis, I'm inclined think they are fan-made.)

EDIT: Lady N was quick on the trigger... Happy birthday, by the way.

Thanks. This is for an experience with making a roguelike that represents the entire world of Nirn using UltimaIV tile set. Instead of a single rectangular map i'm using 6 maps for each face of a cube (imagine a sphere projected into a cube). The front face is occupied by Tamriel, Pyandoneia and part of Yokuda. That is a rectangular area mapped to the latitude/longitude range of -45 to 44. The right face is used by Akavir, left by the rest of Yokuda, top by the frozen Atmora.

This map is the only thing that doesn't fit well.

According to this 0 longitude is in Yokuda. I think i will change this and make 0 longitude pass by the imperial city.

That's a compass rose. I'm not sure Nirn has mathematically provable lines of longitude and latitude, because no one has ever discovered the limits of the globe. Also, the prime meridian is arbitrary, so there can be more than one.
