Maps showing visability would help allot

I was brought back to this site, due to some breach in security reset my pass now I thought i would shed light on a subject that I thought was a flaw... Kinda... In ES4 with sneak skill high enough I found enemies werent registering me at small distances in dark places, I never knew how dark the game was suppose to be but it was always too dark for me yea it made torches more interesting but I usually just turned up the brightness making pitch black seem shadows. In turning up the brightness to help me see it became increasingly harder to tell where shadows dark enough to hide in and then only to be blindsided trying to sneak around accidentally hitting a spot appearantly visable by the enemy.

It would make sneaking more fun and far more viable if our minimaps showed life form visability, so that we may avoid all sight instead of pretending not to be seen in shadows. This could be an ability for certain skill level or something, showing the different measures of sight while also showing the enemies sight in a thermal color coordinated map.

I have my limited edition payed for and can not wait for the release, but I really hope there are werewolves and you can become one because if there isn't and skyrim being the werewolf homeland... ALLOT of loyal long time fans would be very very disappointed and disinclined to actually get the game.

well, hopefully the video settings will show you how dark they want the game to be. the perfect amount of darkness in oblivion IMHO is at the point where you can just barely see enough to move around in dark shadow, because nighttime is actually dark that way... i don't think ANYONE would like getting one more form of GPS in our head.

More like instead of a stupid eye that glows when you're seen, it should be a bar. The bar tells you how much light is hitting you and will be at 0% when no light (ie. can't be seen) and 100% when there is. But that sort of stealth system is apparently too deep for Bethesda.

But as long as they continue to make their game so moddable, that can be forgiven. As it happens, my http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34905 mod for Oblivion happen to have various options for changing the sneak icon to display amount of light instead of (or in addition to) whether you get discovered, one of them exactly what you want.

I'm really curious about the new UI and whether it can be modded as easy as Oblivion's UI can...

Or it's just a terrible idea and they opted for a better one?

Oblivion wasn't dark enough, especially at night. STALKER did it perfectly, in my opinion.

This might work as a spell, similar to detect life, but I don't think we should automatically know the precise perception capability of enemies/NPCs.

I don't even think the light meter is really needed, and I say that as a big fan of the Thief games which inspired it. Sneaking shouldn't be a matter of watching your UI, it should be something you kind of have to get a feel for.

True that there is no seperate minimap, but you can zoom in and out on the big map, so hopefully zooming in far enough will give a minimap of sorts.
