In Morrowind I once totally messed up and had my only save at a daedric ruin near Ald'ruhn.
The problem was I could not move in any direction without getting attacked, my weapon had broke and I was such a low level, I would not survive no matter what I did, and believe me I tried.
In the end I had to abandon that character and start over.
After that I religously carried around a scroll of intervention.
Its not just that mark and recall are handy for setting at the beginning of a dungeon, so you dont have to backtrack, or at your house for easy access to storage. Although thats a very big part of what makes it nifty.
It is also good for those times you ruin your character like I just described or if you get stuck.
Face it, in a game as complex as an elder scrolls game there will always be a few unregarded nooks and crannies where you can get stuck, simply overlooked by development.
In a game of this complexity, what I described above can also happen.
So, yes, bring back mark, recall and intervention, if only so we dont have to start over when we royally mess up.
