I think..
I think thats its just you thats going out of their way to validate something that does not need it.
I think that you are the only one who leaps stretches to declare things non canon.

Look, there really is no need for an overriding place in lore. It just makes the game better.
End of. (Or should be.)

I don't see how it makes the game better. We have fast travel back from Daggerfall, why do we need teleport? Just so you don't have to walk out of the dungeon?

The purpose of my multiple posts was to inform everyone that there was something new in my thread. I didn't want it to sit at the very bottom of all topics and never get read by gamesas.
The reason I didn't edit anything was because I didn't want someone to come to this thread, see it was a super long paragraph, and leave without leaving their comments or criticisms. I think I have
good ideas so I will advertise them the way I please. No need to be mad kids.

well thats considered bumping which is against the rules, unless your threads on page 3+. you may want to read them.

I think I have given sufficient examples and qualias to emphasize my viewpoint, even with your oversimplification and demeanor it still stands.

I still have yet to see any other argument for removing it besides 'personal preference'.

The reasons I gave aside, the only argument to put it back in is your "personal preference".

Have you read anybody's posts in this thread. Fast travel is not comparable to teleportation in such a manner as one replaces the other, they are individual concepts with entirely different functions. These applications of teleportation are numerous, the application of fast travel is only to get from this side of the map to the other.

Not to mention the most compelling argument for teleportation and not just fast travel: "You cannot Fast Travel while are enemies nearby."

I disagree, and this is why I took it to personal messages earlier.
But thats ok.

But I do not think there is any progress to be made in reiterating things time and time again long after they have been disproven.
Calling lore into question when you are pointed out wrong.

It is perfectly fine, normal and acceptable to have your own view of how the elder scrolls operate. No worries. It is not perfectly fine to metaphorically barge in, superimpose your meaning over whats on table and continue to insist that your view is the only one.
Loremasters will have built an edifice.

Like I said in an earlier thread, wich you miscomprehended, when the prevalent theory regarding the world states that its flat, it is flat, for all intents and purposes.
Only when new wisdom comes along to show people they are wrong the roundness comes into play.
This is the difference between reality and accepted fact.

Which is also a problem. It's a gimmick that allows you to bail from any fight if it turns bad for you. You should have consequences if you run into a room and there are 5 enemies and they overwhelm you. Also, other people would use it to exploit dungeon diving by collecting all the items that dropped in the dungeon into a pile, pick them all up and then teleport back to their house so they can stock pile them there so they can sell it. There are numerous uses for it but almost all of them trivialize some part of the game or exploits other parts. Now don't give me "it's a singleplayer game, it can be overpowered" because that is a horrible excuse. It doesn't matter how many people can play a game, it isn't a license to have unbalanced game play and you can ask almost any game developer and they will agree.

Still don't see how I was pointed out as wrong. It has been said that they don't want teleport in the game because it just didn't feel right and not to mention they removed any lore books from the game that had teleport mentioned in it. Now, if your just going to keep saying "No your wrong and your just wanting it your way" instead of actually reading what I've posted, then it's over here. If anyone wants to complain and accuse me of doing something that they themselves are doing (apparently not wanting the return of teleportation is my personal preference but wanting the return of teleportation isn't just personal preference) then message me instead of using this thread as your sounding board because I gave my opinion that I wanted 2 out of the 3 and gave reasoning for it. So I didn't ask for your opinion, so give your opinion about the thread topic instead of believing you have everything figured out when you've obviously missed dev discussions.

Yeah, another thing people think but isn't true. Magic can potentially do infinite things depending on what mythos it's in. Magic is bound by the laws of reality of the mythos it is in. In TES, magic can't do anything and everything. Gods can do anything and everything, magic that mortals can wield, not so much.

Aha!

Well, you shouldve just said that was the problem.
Though to be frank, Im not a maroon at inference.

Thats a simple one right there though.

do not make a 100% cham suit, and do not teleport

See? easy. Now leave me to enjoy my game.

Have you read anything into the TES mythos? The fact that you're making this statement assures me that you haven't.

Weak excuse. "So it's overpowered, I want it so don't use it." You can't have an imbalanced feature in a game even if it is a choice to use, it's still the point it is in the game. If something trivializes root things of the game, it doesn't need to exist. That isn't the reason I said it, like I said it doesn't fit the lore anymore because it has already said that they don't want teleport in the lore or games because it doesn't make sense. Some people find a game being incredibly easy and whole parts of the game which took months to create being completely skipped over from two spells but that's why Morrowind isn't making a return. There will always be something in a game that can be exploited but it's not put in on purpose and putting something in like mark and teleport would be putting in a feature that is already known to be an exploit in and of itself within a game where your not meant to be able to flee from a fight. In Morrowind, they tried the myriad of things to allow you to flee, but that's not in the cards for other games.

I would ask the same of you.

Edit: Btw, no need to reply, I'm going to walk away from this before a mod comes along and scolds us. If you want to keep acting like your being deep and disproving me when in reality you aren't and your just trying to discredit me with "Obviously you don't know *insert generic thing here*" which some people fall for.

You throw around the terms unbalanced and game-breaking entirely too much. The golden gun in James Bond is game-breaking. Having minor exploits does not constitute being unbalanced, having exploits which utterly change the name of the game constitute being unbalanced. The fact that Morrowind would have been pretty much the exact same game were teleportation not in it reasons that it is not game-breaking.

The cards for their games are universally, "allow the player to do what they want," if teleportation somehow doesn't fit with that, then you've got an argument to be made. Otherwise, you're just making stuff up, like claiming that they said they don't want teleportation while being unable to provide a source; no source, it didn't happen.

This is not a scolding.

Without insulting, judging solely by what you posted, no, you do not have enough 'gems in your lore hat' to make statements such as these.
Without trying to be impertuous, I do really feel that in this particular case one needs to accept what the majority deems canon in lue of personal preference.

The majority always deems what is canon*, I can even quote the mods saying as much if you want me to.

*I would add that the one exception to this is that the one with the most interesting thing to say can trump majority if the majority is boring.

Most certainly true! boring < true anydays in fiction!
Please though, quote if you can. I am a completionist and it would make me happy to be able to refer to those quotes.

(When it comes to real life however, majority does equal canon. As I said in a previous thread, Im old enough to remember that historians deemded plato's Oddysey a mere fantasy. And then they found Troy, and the paradigm shifted.
What is really true doesnt change, but what is the accepted view of it does.)

In the context of a work of fiction, the term canon denotes the material accepted as "official", in a fictional universe's fan base. It is often contrasted with, or used as the basis for, works of fan fiction, which are not considered canonical. It is used in two slightly different meanings: first, "it refers to the overall set of storylines, premises, settings, and characters offered by the source media text". In this sense, canon is "the original work from which the fan fiction author borrows," or "the original media on which the fan fictions are based."

It's splitting hairs, but that does say that canon is what's accepted as official by the fan base - the evolution of lore in the Lore Forum is a perfect example. After so long it gets hard to remember what we've made up and what we were told, but it really makes no difference in terms of application.

Except that's not what canon is. Canon is set by an authority, e.g. the IP holder. Just because the majority of people (meaning those that can actually voice for themselves, meaning those on the forums) want something that's made up to be true, doesn't make it true unless the IP holder says the fans can make up whatever they want and make it true, which BGS hasn't done to my knowledge. Just like Lucas Arts sets canon for their IP and the Anime creators set their canon, BGS sets their canon, not majority rules in the fanbase unless otherwise stated by BGS which wouldn't be good for a mythos if a handful of fans on a forum decided.

The problem is that you say that like it actually means something. The creator relinquishes authority when they allow their work to escape the drawing room. Once freed, it is only the populace that matters, and the one with the most interesting thing to say is crowned king.

George Lucas (or comparable alternative) isn't the one playing my game, thus his existence is irrelevant to everything in every way.

Besides, didn't you see, I quoted a mod - it must be right. ;)

No, the creator relinquishes authority over their IP or in this instance, lore, after they die and 75 years passes. It's not the fanbase that matters and it's very odd to think that the fans get to decide how the lore goes. People that let the fans dictate what is canon at all times are doomed to ruin that mythos. If the fans were in control, then everyone in TES would fly on dragons that crap rainbows while they dual wield spears while teleporting.

I have great respect for mods and wikipedia but not everything from wikipedia is right (mod quote was from wikipedia). Websters disagrees with the definition of canon unfortunately.

I'm sorry, I'm too lost in the awesomeness that would be duel wielding spears while teleporting to try and explain the technicalities of why BSG has no dominion in your mind, and in turn the collective which interprets what you call canon.
