Mark+Recall<>Dark Elf/Nordic Face Paint<>Pro

Post » Wed Jul 28, 2010 2:05 am

Hey TES people, I would like to suggest some things that I think would be radical if they were in Skyrim.

Firstly I would like a Mark and Recall spell. It made Morrowind a bit shorter but it opened up possibilities to the player when they wanted to "just play around" in the game world.

Secondly, I thought it would be cool if you gave the player the decision to put face paint on the Nord and Dark Elf races (or anything else--I don't care)

Lastly, I would like objects that have been cast with a telekinesis spell to inflict damage on an enemy if the projectile hits them. Idk how difficult this would be to produce within the game engine, but you guys are smart--SO GET ON IT!!!1!

Verily Lastly, I wanted to thank all of you hard working people at Bethesda Softworks. Keep up the great work and customer satisfaction that makes you so phenomenal. Thanks for listening to your fans.

Also, could we get some saddle bags on our horses? I hated killing Shadowmere to access his inventory. Poor Shadowmere.

I keep getting more ideas so I'll just keep putting them on my post because I don't know where else to put them.
I think it would be neat if there was a guild like the East Empire Company. Considering there will be a lot of mead (maybe more so than flin in Morrowind) in Skyrim, there should be a company that regulates the drinks "economy". And being a part of this regulation of mead and other precious objects would be nice. In Morrowind I remember doing some remedial tasks for a knight or colonel who worked for the East Empire Company on Vvardenfell--this time, I would like to do a little more and possibly move up the ranks of the EEC.

ALl these are nice ideas, specially the saddle bags and the face paint. What would be really cool would be some kind of tool to actually paint on your face once you were done shaping it. that would be pure gold

OMG YES. That's an amazing idea. Maybe some default templates for people who are crappy artists.

Ya guys I'm just gonna keep adding to this thing.
A while back a mod came out by a guy named "scruggs" on TES NEXUS called the Thieves Arsenal. I don't know if scruggs made this mod but he uploaded it so...ya.
Anyways, there was a couple special arrows within the mod that I thought were pretty cool. I think they have possibilities to become alteration spells because of the mods far-fetched idea.
Basically, there were about 5 special arrows that you could shoot anywhere you pleased. The first arrow, "vine arrow", could be shot anywhere and a vine would fall from the contact point--allowing the player to climb it.
Another arrow was the "grease arrow". This grease arrow could be shot anywhere on the floor where people would walk (usually enemies and guards). If an opponent stepped onto the grease left by the arrow, they would fall to the floor, allowing the player to attack (or just watch and laugh). Another arrow was called "the Blackjack". This could be shot at NPCs, knocking them unconscious.

Like I said, these arrows seem very unrealistic. So unrealistic that I think their affect should be converted into a spell. Perhaps mysticism or alteration (I forget which one is being removed).

Another suggestion: whenever I played Oblivion and got attacked from behind I thought of Link from Zelda and how he always had his shield strapped onto his back. So why not
have the same thing in Skyrim? If your bows and swords can be seen strapped to your players body why can't your shield be shown on your back?

The second and third things are fine but Mark and Recall don't fit the lore and shouldn't return.

I'd love physics objects to do some damage on impact, although it'd have to be really miniscule and well-defined so we don't have NPCs calling the guards after we pick up an apple and accidentally send the bowl flying into their face. Deus Ex had the most outstanding example of this: with enough effort you could pelt people to death with thrown lockpicks.

He's clearly reserving the three posts so he has enough space when he goes back and adds even more ideas. :P

I've lost track of what the topic is, but if it's saddle bags and face point, then I'm all in. Tattoos for that matter as well. The screenshots mostly show bare-armed dudes...just begging for some Nordic-inspired ink.

This thread should be locked, for that matter...
It's basically "his suggestions thread" and there is an official suggestions thread. Anyways, someone pass the lad a fishystick :D.

The purpose of my multiple posts was to inform everyone that there was something new in my thread. I didn't want it to sit at the very bottom of all topics and never get read by gamesas.
The reason I didn't edit anything was because I didn't want someone to come to this thread, see it was a super long paragraph, and leave without leaving their comments or criticisms. I think I have
good ideas so I will advertise them the way I please. No need to be mad kids.

And by that you mean, have no inconsistency with the lore but you don't like them?

I like all of these ideas:)

Especially mark and recall. They made moving around so much handier.
In Oblivion I had to travel, walk, enter house.. In Morrowind I just cast recall and I was home.

Oh, and teleportation most certainly has its place in lore.
There are several in-game books where people use it, so there is no problem there :)

Yea, it was so nice to gather up all your loot after cleaning out a shrine and teleport it all back to your home with you. The teleportation also greatly increased the number of ways you could travel, though granted, fast travel sorta made that worthless. Still, I don't think you can fast travel when over-encumbered, but you can teleport.

That's one of the biggest things that I disliked about Oblivion. I would gather 10,000 GP worth of armor and wouldn't be able to get it back. Mark/recall will make Skrim a much better game if the guys at gamesas implement it into the magic system.

Except that it was said in the past that they thought teleportation didn't fit for mortals to do so they removed it and retconned any lore with teleportation mentioned in it...

But that's the point. They are trying to make you have the decision of what was more worth it to you to carry. If you cast your strongest feather spell and you still couldn't carry all your phat loots then you needed to choose. It removes any choice if you can just pick up everything and then teleport back to your house (which as I stated why this isn't a good idea) and then drop what you needed to move again, go sell it, come back and get the rest.

How about if I ask you, because at this point in the series that's about like saying magic isn't fit for mortals to do; especially when there are a ton of gameplay and book references which say otherwise.

Ok. Magic can have limits. It has been said in the past that teleport doesn't make since in the grand scheme for anyone to do willy nilly because otherwise, why don't they just teleport entire armies into enemy cities. So they removed references of teleportation from the game and they got rid of teleport. Gods can still teleport as is apparent in Oblivion but basically mortals are bound to portals now instead of going *poof* and your there.

Think face paint is confirmed. Had to stop a moment with saddle bags, has had them so long in Oblivion I forgotten it's a mod.
