Markarth & The Forsworn #2

Post » Sun May 18, 2014 9:16 pm

M'aiq decided to make a second part to Markarth vs. the Forsworn.

First Thread: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1498153-markarth-vs-forsworn/

M'aiq leans toward the Forsworn, because they were technically there first.. Well the Dwemer were, but when they disappeared, the Forsworn settled there, hence making the Forsworn the true owners of the Reach.

The Forsworn's lore is a lot more interesting in my opinion. But everything about the Reach captivates me, I don't think I could pick a side.

No "neither" option? Both sides have massive flaws preventing me from considering support.

The Forsworn have every right of violence, but they're attacking the wrong people, making them only bandits with less clothes on.

Markarth is corrupt as a rotten pig's corpse, and not to mention their wonderful tactics with the natives. *cue Braig's sob story*

EDIT: M'aiq, your status made me laugh. It would appear your grammar has gotten flabby as well

Actually, Ma'iq, the Nords were there before the Forsworn. They co-ruled with the Dwemer, as you can see from the presence of Merethic Era ruins and Dragon Cult temples. The Reachman are the last people, out of all those who've set foot in Skyrim, to ever rule the Reach.

Yeah. So the Forsworn really aren't entitled to anything in that sense. But they're still badass. :D

M'aiq added a third option. ;)

Then Madanach has lied to M'aiq... :(

That's hardly a "neither" option M'aiq.. Don't make me let Fang lose, he'll chase any feline [censored] out of town.

Honestly, I see problems with both sides and it also depends on the type of character I play, so I voted "neither". That being said, I tend to lean more towards Markarth.

The Forsworn have every right to the Reach until Red Eagle rises, rules again, and is vanquished again. Unless Hevnoraak rises and beats him to it.

What right do to the Forsworn have? They:

1) Got there last.

2) Aren't a majority.

3) React to 1) and 2) by trying to kill everyone.

I frankly don't see where on earth the justification for them comes from, then they confound it by being a terrorist death-cult, of all things.

About 43% of the named npc's in Markarth are Reachmen. 28% are Nords. Bearing in mind that the mechanical named Nord percentage for all capitals in Skyrim is 48%. This doesn't include guards, but if we bring unnamed npc's into this, there are far more Forsworn in the hills and they recruit from Markarth.

Not that I'd have much against that 28%. The Silver-Blood family is the problem on the Nords' side. They make Maven Black-Briar look like the image Mom in Futurama tries to affect.

A significant chunk of the Reachmen in Markarth are just Bretons. Bear in mind there's also a Reach on the High Rock side of the border, so many who identity as 'Reachmen' yet don't identify with the Forsworn are most probably from there.

Thonar, at least. We have no reason to believe that Thongvor is in on the Forsworn Conspiracy.

But if he isn't aware of it, then he shouldn't be Jarl. It's happening in plain sight, in his own damn prison for the love of Kyne.

Long story short, would go with the Forsworn but since all the do is attack you onsite, then it's like they just have to go. Doesn't matter if you were there first. Going to attack me all the time you got to go. Yeah I know it's programmed like that. The way I see it, the ones who attack you are scum of the Forsworn so they got to go.

I didn't count Anton Virane. I'm guessing you're talking about the ones without tatoos, in Left Hand Mine perhaps. Those other Bretons have some unusual names for Bretons. I don't remember anyone in the game mentioning Reachmen having migrated to the Reach recently, so I wouldn't assume that.

Besides, there's also the fact that Yngvar collects protection money for the family and that they try to force other landowners to sell with mercenaries. As if Thongvor is unaware of that as well.
