[RE-RELZ] Markynaz

Post » Fri Aug 13, 2010 9:09 am

Truth be told, I do not understand all that comes with the companion (meaning, I did not set up the
scripts and dialogue initially or made any other alterations without Princess on hand; the companion
parts are her addition, I just make them look nice :) ). That said, I will continue to look in on this
where I have time (not too much ATM due to a family illness that needs my attention). If I get some
relief this weekend, I will look further into what the issues are with Princess and see if we can discover
a solution.

Else, as far as the gear is concerned, I may end up having to do away with the
chest and scatter the armour bits throughout the dungeon area; though it works
for me, I am baffled why some or none of the items are showing up for others
(seems odd that the armour will appear more often than the sword when it should
all be there) .

Take Care

Hey Westly, I noticed that the horns aren't options anymore. Which is fine, as the new ones look great. Got any plans for more variations? I'm not suggesting anything, or expressing displeasure. Just wondering.

Family IS first, so don't worry about the chest problem, I jut added the sword with the CS and that did the trick :) And about the companion, I'll ask the "Gatanas Companion - Female Fix" 's creator about the issue in his mod list and see if I find any cohincidense with mine

:) Take care!!

I had to add the sword manually as well.
Another question, which will no doubt reveal my general level of cluelessness: the armour in the chest belongs to Gatanas but I want some too. Are those pieces unique or will dremora start dropping pieces eventually? Is there any way of getting it other than 'borrowing' the armour set from my loyal companion or using the CS?

EDIT: Clueless indeed. It helps to read all the entries in a thread, answers may be found. Maybe I'll try to make a small personal mod that adds a second set for me.

The armor is unique. If you want another set of armor you can get it through console.

Take care!! ^_^

I ended up getting the armour from Westly's Shrine of Mephara mod. Also very nice. Now, all I need is a few Golden Saints for my CE enchantments :)

i placed several markynaz in temples of mehrunes dagon - some as a substitute for a removed dremora, some just additional (as i did with westlys golden saints in sheogorath temples) - and it's not the easiest race to fight against...

I just tried to get Gatanas to make some arrows for me and had one piece of raw ebony and two bolts of cloth in my inventory. When I asked her about --daedric arrows she just replied that that is what she needs. I tried with putting the in her inventory, but no change.

Am I missing something obvious or is something wrong?

EDIT: Never mind, I'm an idiot as usual. You need two bolts of cloth of the same kind. :banghead:

Head & Body textures by Westly

Those look a great deal like MY Oblivion textures you've used there, but I see no Slof in your credits. I don't mind you using them, but it would be nice to be given some credit for them.

They look like yours (intentionally, I believe), but unless I'm mistaken, Westly does all of his work from scratch. The base BB texture under the tattoos is certainly his.

I'm sure its just a minor oversight on Westly's part that he missed the credit for the inpiration of the textures, he has the utmost respect for you.

Your name is in the Credits section of the readme and is in the readme of every Mod Westly has released as far as I recall.

-Snip-
Thank you to AlienSlof for initally pointing me down the
right paths when I first began making mods.

He did state in the Original Release Thread, when he updated the textures, that they were 'Slof-Style'

Edit: Corrected for Spelling, Grammer and Dyslexia.
Edit two: Also in the credits section of the Readme in the Download in Post#22 of the Previous Thread:

Tattoo designs based on the excellent work by Alienslof
from her Oblivion Dremora Skins.

so like I said a minor oversight which I'm sure Westly will correct.

I would never have, in a million years, not given you credit for the tattoo design;
they were originally made as a request (that particular thread had since been
culled) and only as an add-on for this race (the actual base skin is from my "Fit Bodies" replacer
for BB, which was, of course, remade for the Dremora). In the end, I did not want to have
too many files floating around so I made them the default skin (the less .esps,
the better :) ). As Psy pointed out, you have been credited and thanked in every
single mod that I have ever made, as you were such a help when I first started
modding that it only seemed right to do so. Indeed, I left out your name in this
README (as Psy pointed out, an oversight); this was due to my using the original
README as a base and only adding the version changes (and not the other
info from the add-on's README). I will add your name in the credits as it
appeared in the add-on, so no worries :) .

Take Care

EDIT: All README's have been amended with the proper credits :D

I know it's been a while since anyone posted in this topic, I just wanted to say how much fun I'm having with my new character. :) They're great-looking skins and I like the horns and hairs available. I'm playing the fem version right now and she's quite easy and fun to play (partly owing to my having chosen a modded birthsign - I think it came with Tawnie or White Senches - that boosts personality).

There is a fairly significant downside to Gatanas, however - the male version, at least. If I don't remember to take a LOT of health potions the second we're attacked, he kills me in every single battle we're in. I'll probably change the area effect of that shock spell he constantly uses myself, but it's worth noting for anyone else who should happen to play with the companions that you may want to wait to pick him/her up until you've got a good potion stock collected.

Yeah, where Gatanas is sometimes concerned, the player ends up being the companion
(rather than the other way around). Much of the time the player can stand back
and let Gatanas do all the "heavy lifting" in a battle. I might release a version
that alters the Markynaz stats (and changes their abilities to powers) so that
Gatanas might be less powerful (but I consider this an eccentricity on Gatanas
part and roll with it, mostly ;) ).

I'll make a less powerful version, but Westly will have to upload that since he did the mod. :)

I got this in my email:

I recently downloaded Westly's Dremora race mod for Morrowind including your Gatanas companion from the Planet Elder Scrolls website. All was well for a period of time, I enjoyed the new race and new companion (and all of the abilities). Then suddenly, with the onset of one of the "We have much to discuss" dialogs, I wasn't able to start the interaction as the "--much to discuss--" option never appeared. Attempts to use the console commands to add the chat option have all failed. Have you any insight on what might have occurred and how I might fix it? I thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

Has anyone else had an error like this with the dialogue?

Or, more to the point, has anyone been able to play the mod straight through, without errors?

Actually, I am in the middle of two of those. One of my characters has Gatanas as a companion, and so far, everything is going fine. She occasionally will actually have the --much to discuss--, and I set out to either do, or companion her to do what she needs. We are at the point of making the Daedric arrows, which she does nicely.

The other character, had a minor faux pas that I don't know what to do about. I originally escorted Gatanas to retrieve her family armor heirloom, and she was dispatched(read killed) when we were jumped by not only the Dremora, but the bandits that were in the shrine (this was Ashalmaweia and not her proper shrine, since Ashalmaweia is on the way to hers). She was killed and I resurrected her, which is something I do not ordinarily do. But I told her to stay outside to prevent her from being killed again by her own Markynaz. I retrieved the armor, and she thanked me. But never again did her --much to discuss-- option appear in the menu. She has it in her dialogue, but it never appears in the menu. I tried on the suggestion of my sister-in-law to use the "addtopic" console command, and from the console box it looked as if it worked because it changed light blue and didn't have an error message. But alas, no --much to discuss-- in the menu for me to click upon.

So for now, of my two characters, one is progressing nicely, and the other, who I created to actually use her as a long time companion, she is "broken". So for the time being, I had to implement the typical "Sleeping Beauty" technique, of taking her to the home, using NPC commands to have her jump on the bed, and then told her to "sleep". She still functioned in all her other activities, but she is currently stuck in "We have much to discuss..." without the option of going further with it. Hope there is something I can do, because as a companion, she is funny, and I love the fact that she generates a global that when prompted, she is transported to whatever inn/tavern/fort/castle of importance to whatever town.

Oh, and Westly and Princess, collectively, it is a fantastic set of mods. Visually stunning and great to play.

I got this response from my email correspondant:

Well, much to my chagrin, I discovered where you had stated that the third dialog would take place after the player had recovered the companion's armor. Guess I was moving too slowly, I hadn't done that yet. So, after a many re-loaded battle (at first level, no less) the dialog functioned as it should.

Now to figure out why the "Fang of the Kyn" didn't show up.

So it looks likehe managed to complete the quest, and retrieve the armour, OK.

Has anyone managed to get the Fang of the Kyn without problems?

Now that I'm satisfied that the quest basically works, does that mean that all Westly or I has to do is alter the stats a bit to weaken him?

Ummm, Sorry to perform necromancy on this thread, just re-dled this onto my new comp, and I'm positive this is just a mod conflict, but, Gatanas has no Walking animation below the legs..and when I first encounter her, its like shes stuck in sleep animation wandering about, and I had this same mod on my old comp and it worked fine.

Regarding the armor quest, why would the 'civilized' Kyn / Dremora attack their own? Would it not make more sense if the quest was to retrieve the armor from the 'barbaric' Daedra?
It would also be more entertaining if, depending on the quantity of alcohol consumed, the companion would get frisky, strip / lose their clothes, stagger around, fall down, pass-out and depending on their six, random goofy or quirky behavior.
