Marriage In Fallout 4 A Poll

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 3:06 pm

I have a quick question: should there be marriage in Fallout 4? I know that the release date is in 5 days, but if not in the main game, it can be added in later. What does everyone think?

The player character starts married so how fitting this feature would be would depend on what happens to the spouse.

With that said, the marriage in Skyrim was a travesty and the evilest thing you could do, for it resulted in the victim being brainwashed of their entire character and turned into a soulless house maid. So if there is such a system... for heaven's sake, don't make it like Skyrim.

You should add an "I don't really care" option on both. Just my opinion.

Edit: Thanks

Their is marriage in fallout, it just doesn't last that long and it's a one time gig.

I actually had no problem with Skyrim's method as I did it just to RP the character. You could pick nearly anyone. Hardly any effort to win their hand. Do a ceremony and they move right in. Get some new dialog and additional perks. Win, win, win. I'm not playing Skyrim to have a Dating Sim anyway, so it's method works fine for character RP.

With FO4 limiting it to companions I know ... I JUST KNOW ... that my character is going to find that woman selling dog bits on a stick simply irresistible and I won't be able to woo her ... and I'm going to be ticked about it. To make matters worse with the voiced PC I know that just a simple console command won't fix it either. DAMN.

If it is as useless and lacking of a feature as it was Skyrim, I would prefer it not be there at all.

However, it's not a feature that interest me in the first place regardless. So I guess I couldn't care less be it improved or not.

I'm okay with it, as long as it's way different from how it worked in Skyrim. I don't have too strong of an opinion on it, but yeah. I'd prefer with companions, rather than with literally anyone, however.

You are aware you can get married in Fallout 2, right?

To be honest, hated Skyrim's "marriage" thing. I mean, you just walk up to a person you want to marry with an amulet, do a quick quest for most of them and poof, they'll marry ya. And I don't even get a dowry from my wife's family! And the marriage itself is stale...

I'd like it to where I have to works towards it! And that marriage actually has some affect on game play. I'd like to see more of a Fable 2/3 marriage interaction you know. And yes, I did have a male and female character who had multiple spouses spread across Albion.

Unless I can continue the marriage with my spouse (the other protagonist) I'm not really interested in relationships. I probably will try the romance thing at some point in the 2nd or 3rd playthrough just to see what's up. But overall I'm not super excited about it.

My God you do that too? I mean fall hard for a random NPC that you'll never be able to ...as you say.. "Woo"? Yeah my poor Lone Wanderer took him months to get over Amatta only to fall in love with that Quatermaster chick in the citadel, talk about unrequited love yo.

I personally would like the PC to be able to marry anyone, but companions have special fleshing out. That way I can marry that random NPC I like.

I feel both of your pains! I've never gotten over Olfina Grey-Mane in Skyrim.

I voted 'no'. Unless it was a funny shotgun wedding type of thing for a quest. Romance ain't something I care for the devs to spend their time pursuing in Fallout.

Though if your prewar spouse survives, I'd be fine with that. Especially if your relationship could pertain to the plot somehow.

I don't want marriage, romance is ok. Marriage seems like a waste of time in the post-apocalypse.

I'll just use the console so I can marry her in my current run. Just for you. Just have to break her up with her secret boyfriend.

And therein lies the rub ... we'll never be able to do that with a voiced PC and marriage partners with stories we have to play through.

Skyrim's marriage system was shallow and lacked merit. If you can (re)marry in this game, I hope it's tackled differently.

Im pretty sure that like in FNV and some other games like DAI, you can still get yourself a roll in the hay so they say, simply by charming a npc. You could do that in FNV with the vault lady in Vault 21, and i vaguely remember you could do it in FO3 too. But most of these are simple fade to black scenes.

As long as you can atleast flirt and maybe talk your way into a couple of beds, im fine with not having a skyrim like marriage system or full fleshed NPC romance plots.

.................................and for the love of ALMIGHTY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO SKYRIM MARRIAGE, i will seriously throw my character in a crater in the glowing sea if that monstrocity ever returns again.

As long as the companions keep their personalities I'm okay with it. Anyway I only married once in Skyrim and it was to Lydia. If you thought she sounded robotic as a follower you should hear her as a spouse.

I think yeah, but I feel it should only be with companions and it shouldn't be like skyrim. You have to work at the romance part and then have a chance to get married.. at a little dilapidated church. There should be quests involved like.. "find a best man and bridesmaid" "Find ingredients for cake!" "find something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue." and other really goofy things.

It's not something I even thought about but you're totally right there is going to be someone like the Nuka Cola collecting girl or what have you who is like 5X more interesting than Piper.
