Anything other than a Nord is ugly.

That's just like, your opinion, man.

It's also kind of offensive.

As long as Annekke the hot mother is by my side and her husband 10 feet under, I couldn't care less about the wife.

I'll admit there are some ugly SOB's in this game, especially men but not all of them. My favorites, or at least the decent ones:

Farkas (Companion of Whiterun)

Argis the Bulwark (housecarl of Markarth)

I just wish Rune could be mine :(

Because with your questionable parentage (dragonborn?!) all the pretty ones are out of your league.

While I would so much prefer an Altmer woman to marry (especially one of the Thalmor chicks!) I think Ysolde is absolute perfection. Sweet behavior, nice voice, :drool: looks.

Elisif the Fair is not marriable because:
1) You don't just go marrying dukes and jarls
2) There would have to be the gay option, which would make the Jarl's position even more difficult
3) She is a fresh widow and apparently loved her husband

You Thalmor bast...no, that's not the topic, I'm putting Wuuthrad away.

Anyway yeah, I married Ysolda on my Redguard, I liked her the most because she's not a total [censored] but she is an oppurtunistic merchant at heart, which fits my Redguard ex-pirate now mercenary perfectly.

It's just a shame how marriage completely robs your wife/husband of their personality and turns them into very affectionate robots. It's especially bad with Aela, who I love for her strength and independance, not as appealing when those are stripped away.

meh i just divorced my 13th wife. i just use console commands to make them marriable and a companion so u can pick anybody. to bring their stats on par i use adav. alas it seems no one in skyrim is for me and the guards in nearly all the holds have a large bounty on my head

I thought Jordis and Muiri were pretty decent. Sylgja isn't too bad with the mead goggles on. Senna looks okay without the hood.

But the real issue is that marriage is meaningless. There's no courtship or romance involved. You just pick one, and they become a resource. Marriage could have been a great quest line. Oh well, maybe next time.

What annoys the crap out of me is even if you find one you like and can marry.... you can't give her gifts like rings/outfits. Even though you're well over 40K gold. Seriously, how ignorant is that. PC players need not apply to this statement of course.

At least the women in Skyrim don't all look fat and middle-aged like the girls in Oblivion.

My redguard spellsword married Senna (Priestess/Dibella) and is very happy with her. He adventures with both Jordis and Lydia (who he is also fond of), but enjoys returning home to Markarth and receiving "restoration", "healing", and loving comfort from his personal priestess. He will frequently suggest that they move back to her place just so he can walk the short distance with her to the chapel and watch her pray. He thinks she is very sixy when she prays. Then they enjoy a stroll back home together as a change of pace. I find the romantic options attractive enough. A little more depth in the relationships, including some dynamic discussion would help the marriage mechanic as others have pointed out.

Just came across Lisette last night, and realized she's probably the best looking NPC in Skyrim. Too bad only PC players can get that.

Ysolda / Camilla aren't that bad.

I didn't think any of the guys were worth marrying, and the one person I did want to marry ended up having a scripted death.

... so I married Aela the Huntress instead. Us ladies look very nice together. 8) :P

Many of the posts in this topic made me chuckle-- good show! :)

There are plenty of very beautiful women available for marriage in Skyrim. To those of you complaining: did you play Oblivion? :shudder: And if you did play Oblivion but still think that the Skyrim babes aren't good enough, good LORD what are your standards for beauty? Not everyone in the world can be a supermodel. :) Besides, even if all the women being supermodels is your cup of tea, if you have the PC version it's not problem-- mods to the rescue!

It IS a shame that marriage is somewhat underwhelming, but roleplay it a bit (or pretend play it, or whatever we're calling it now) and it can be quite rewarding. It's also a bit of a shame that the beast races and some of the elves are pretty unrepresented in the marriage category, but on the other hand there aren't that many non-Nord/Imperial/Breton characters anyway. :shrug:

The redguard chick in Whiterun is pretty hot. In a creepy, videogamey way. Don't even get me started on Olfina Grey-Mane.

Jenassa with Forsworn Armor looks sweet.
Otherwise she looks kinda ugly with that Default Leather Armor.

Olfina is pretty hot, but she loves Jon battle-born..

If you pickpocket him, you'll see a letter from Olfina, they are kinda in a secret romance just like Romeo and Juliet.

Romeo = Jon Battle-Born
Juliet = Olfina Gray-Mane
Capulets = Gray-Manes
Montagues= Battle-Borns
