Martigen's Monster Mod + Ooo?

Post » Sun Dec 19, 2010 8:27 pm

1) Use the BC versions of the patches instead of the UL OMOD's. Just delete them by unlinking and deleting if you have to.
2) Merged plugins obey load order just like active mods.
3) The older date on the optional modules just means that they have not been updated since that version. That is fine then.
4) Is your load order working now? It looks all right.

I forgot to respond here, sorry. Everything is working now. Your BAIN guide is also incredibly helpful, and I'm currently in the process of moving over from OBMM. Thank you so much for your help.

So as I'm playing, I'm getting some strange lag after closing out the inventory menu. Also, the game crashes randomly on occasion when moving from cell to cell in exteriors. It feels like a loading issue when things pop into existence. It's possible this is due to Oblivion Stutter Remover, but is there a common cause of spawn point-induced crashes particularly with MMM?

Post your load order, please. I have heard both of those problems before, and I know a few causes for one of them. OSR should not be the cause though. I will also try to think of which threads those crashes might be pertinent to.

The crashes are not completely random. They seem to happen when there's a large, abrupt amount of loading, like when entering a cell in which the Imperial City is viewable, or coming upon a large, complex ruin. I am also running across many groups of multiple spawns - tons of goblins, four or five rabbits in one spot, three or four wolves, etc.

This may be a memory issue. I recently installed Oblivion Stutter remover and Progress. Before those two things, crashes were less frequent, but I was spending most of my time within the walls of the Imperial City. They seem most frequent when in exterior cells with big abrupt load stutters.

Also, the game pauses and crashes when I exit, whether from the main menu or in-game. The music continues to play for a bit and then I have to Task Manager my way out of it.

Download Fast Exit 2 to deal with the crash on exit issue. OSR and Progress should not cause the crashes you are describing. Try removing some of the MMM add ons. I think that a bashed patch may help you, however. I am 99% sure progress is not at fault, but post in the OSR threads to see if you can try adjusting some INI settings.

Okay - I disabled

More Wilderness Life No Gates
Gems and Gem Dust
Friendlier Factions
More Passive Wildlife

After this, I have noticed a mild FPS boost and noticeable stuttering smoothing...and haven't crashed yet.

More Wilderness Life might have been a little much for your system.
Make sure you have the right G&G plugin by checking in the MMM thread.
I don't know what could be wrong with Friendlier Factions. Less fighting should help your system.
More Passive Wildlife should also help.

Post in the MMM thread about your problem with the last two if adding them back actually causes problems. Those plugins are supposed to bring MMM back closer to Vanilla settings, I believe.

It's not my system - I can crank out Crysis and Mass Effect 2 on full settings, no issues, as well as vanilla Oblivion. There must be something in my setup that's just a little bit jittery, but no big deal. :/

I'm running on:
8 GB system RAM
Nvidia GTX 275
2.83 Quad Core
700 GB hard drive
Defragmented/graphically optimized before installing mods

Uh...it couldn't be Realistic Fatigue somehow? Running extensive scripts for lots of different new spawns? Just a shot in the dark.

Albertine..

All Natural Real Lights will cause a fps hit for sure. Even outdoors. For what it does it is worth once again.

So not all of it is to blame on OOO/MMM once again.

Make sure you are not checking OOO.esm/OOO.esp under faction and relation settings in bash patch. Just select the MMM ones and friendly factions plugins rebuild patch..

That should help

Oh, the truth is I don't care if it is caused by MMM/OOO somehow - I'll put up with a little stutter and crash so that I can keep the awesomesauce. Actually, it would be really tough for me to return to vanilla Oblivion now. Mostly it would be nice to feel what's causing that little jitter just so I can wipe it out.

I'm wondering if there isn't some background memory leak I'm dealing with here, rather than anything mod-related. However, I've already created another thread addressing that, optimized it as per the Memory and Oblivion thread, as well as optimized windows to be running low-key.

The process I've gone through to install Oblivion and the mods has been very clean and organized. It only lags occasionally, but it's not a big issue. If it develops into a constant messy crash situation (which I doubt), I'll bring it to your attention.

Oh wow! nice! Well, Realistic Fatigue should not be your problem. A lot of those "Realistic" mods are not really too script heavy. AI packages tend to be the bigger burden.

Land tear problem maybe? Could you post your latest load order? You may need a http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13834 or something. Do you even have the ULs installed? haha Also, your system could take advantage of this discovery: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1078392-oblivion-and-memory-usage/. Unfortunately, I do not have a 64-bit OS, so I would not be able to help you much with that if you have any trouble, but that thread should be a good enough resource.

Not using ULs, which is fine. I'm ready to just play. Still getting random crashes in exteriors, though the lag seems to be on the downward spiral.

Natural Environments does not requires SI. You could put that mod back, if I am not mistaken.

(For crashes and stuttering) Try, one-at-a-time, removing Pestilent Afflictions, Realistic Fatigue and Looting NPCs & Creatures.

There is nothing in your load order that would cause land tears unless one of the MMM plugins did it, so post in the MMM thread. I do not recall any MMM plugins modifying land height, but it would not hurt to check. You could also try the latest UOP Hotfix, 3.2.5.

Okay, I disabled Realistic Fatigue and suddenly BOOM, my framerate just went bizarro insane. Good, I mean. I get the feeling that UL thread really helped out, the .exe patch and the Stutter Remover, with my memory issues - but Realistic Fatigue was doing something weird in conjuncture with all the spawns of MMM to cause bigtime glitchiness. Gone now! Seems to run like a charm, but I'll keep you posted.

Here's my new load order.

Beautiful! I hope all continues to go well. You can try http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12074 to see if it is scripted any better. You can set it to use RF's settings in the INI file, but I recommend leaving it as it is. It is already BAIN-friendly, so just drop it in, install, run BOSS, rebuild the bashed patch, re-run TES4LODGen, and go...whew. haha

Got 3.7.3 BSA version installed finally - only problem, which i have had so many times installing MMM, is that I have wolf heads with no bodies. I have Tamriel Travellers, and their wolf pets are ok. Can you tell me what mesh and/or texture folder files I need to copy from my 3.7.1 non BSA version I still have to get the wolf bodies back?

UPDATE: FIXED BY INSTALLING WOLF DIVERSITY MOD.

Did you completely uninstall the MMM 3.7b1 resources before installing 3.7b3?

If you still had partial resources left, that might cause the problem. It's not an issue with the BSA itself because it works for everyone else.

As Showler pointed out. You should not have any version but 3.7b3 installed. You should have completely uninstalled all old versions. You should have done the same for OOO. Also, the BSA download only includes the BSA. You need to have downloaded the "public release" archive as well.

I did not have any MMM, because I installed Oblivion and just installed 373. In any event, the missing textures have been added by another mod, so my game is now fine.
