Martin Septim Dragonborn?

Post » Thu Aug 11, 2011 10:33 pm

In Oblivion, when you take Martin to Cloud Ruler temple, all the Blades chant:

"Hail, Dragon Born! Hail, Martin Septim! Hail!"

In Skyrim, your advisor, Esbern, is also a Blade.

Could I get a link to that article?

I'm looking for it but it's proving to be elusive! Going to check my browser history from yesterday to see if I can find it.

I was having another go at the main questline from Oblivion and when speaking to Baurus at the end of the tutorial quest my ears picked up on something. "...They say it's the dragon blood that flows through the viens of every Septim." Or something along those lines. So it got me thinking... Is Martin Septim a Dragonorn?

I apologise if there is already a topic asking this question, I was just curious.

The Septims are dragonborn, but their all dead.

That's a direct quote from Oblivion.

So yeah, I guess he was Dragonborn. Perhaps the appearance of dragons does something special to our Dragonborn, I dunno.

Martin isn't a direct descendant of Tiber Septim, he is actually a descendant of Emperor Cephorus Septim II, Cephorus II was chosen as emperor by vote of Council; as he was closely related to Andorak Septim, Emperor Uriel VI's son. Strangely however Andorak's descendants still rule Shornhelm as of the fourth Era, so perhaps Skyrim's Dragonborn is a descendant of Andorak, of whom is a descendant of Tiber Septim.

Edit: It still works as Shornhelm is a kingdom in Highrock, which is close to Skyrim so if our dragonborn is crossing the border from Highrock to Skyrim then it makes perfect sense.hehe

That's what I was thinking. I read on some article that the events that awakened the dragons also awakened the dragon soul within Dragonborn. So maybe that's why Martin didn't have any of the traits you will have in Skyrim.

We are the last Dragonborn. That's why we're special.

The Septims were a line of Dragonborns, starting with Tiber Septim.

Maybe.... but I'm sure if that happened then Martins "lover" would have stepped forward after his death, especially if there was the chance that her son would become emperor.
