If Mass Effect can do it, why not Skyrim?

Did you play Dragon Age II? Bioware sold out. Kinect on ME3 will be horrible.

ME1 was an RPG, 2 wasn't. 3 probably wont be either. Bioware is dead.

I heard the devs say ME3 will have more RPG features in some magazines, and they said it will have more skill tree advancements.

Thats a great step, this Kinect crap not so much.

While ME2's story wasn't quite as good as ME1's, I actually felt that (in some ways) the "RPG elements" in ME2 were stronger - conversations and decision making were a bit more complex and varied.

(edit... I recall all the complaints when ME2 came out - "OMG, it's not an RPG anymore! I don't have to sort through a billion crappy guns after every dungeon!" and could only  at the people who thought that a cluttered inventory system = "RPG")

Id rather have a "cluttered" inventory system, which it wasn't, rather than no inventory system at all and a weapon list shorter than a linear FPS. The dialogue and story seemed to be written by the EA execs toddlers. Level design in 2 was even worse. all thinking and strategy was taken away and replaced by mindless shooting mechanics. Coupled with the linear leveling and EA nickel and diming, ME2 was probably one of the worst sequels ever. ME1 could have actually passed as the sequel. Im not sure Ive ever seen another franchise butchered in such a way.

Funny, I see the first Dragon Age Origins to be a sequel to the second one. Bioware used to be so great....Shame on you EA. Go to hell (Uh-oh, now they're going to sue me.)

I've already made my posts on how Motion Control is not a dead-end feature. It is, at very least, to the Dual-Shock controler as an anologue stick is to the D-pad.

Mmm no its not.
anologue control allows me to sit in my seat and chill out still.

I totally agree with the sentiments regarding ME.
I loved the concept of the Protheans. The hint that they may have survived somewhere at the end of ME1. Then in ME2 they've just been turned into mindless drones with exactly NOTHING to add to the story.

ME1 story: |===============================| this long.
ME2 story: |==| this long.

Its as if someone hit the author in the head shortly after finishing first game. And the way they made it so "new" players could get into. I freaking hated that, its #2 in a series. If you don't get it play the first!

They basically are, probably because both were made before the EA takeover.

Swing Dovakhiin's left arm with your left arm! Swing Dovahkiin's right arm with your right arm! Head bang to start conversation! Double backflip to access inventory!

And yet it's sold over 10 millions units. That sure seems like a lot of 10 year olds and old people. One of the smartest marketing move Microsoft has ever made, releasing this.

Too bad we couldn't have gotten it at the start..

Yeah, I doubt the Kinect will ever be able to be implemented in a real game, other than gimmicky kids stuff. I dont ever see an in depth RPG, or strategy game with Kinect support. I wouldnt even use the thing if it was given to me for free. I was actually given a Wii for free and it just collects dust.

as much fun as kinect is, and it is pretty fun, it would be a tiring annoying waste of time for skyrim. Even motion control for zelda on the wii was tiring and annoying

Sounds about right in terms of numbers.

Now, epic sidetracking for a moment.

I despise ME's direction almost as much as I hate the BK CEO of Activision Blizzard. Seriously, ME2 had better combat, imo, and it had better visuals, but otherwise, it didn't reach ME's lofty perch of greatness. Mark Meer is still an awful voice actor, I mean, he had NO vocal inflection at all, and that Jennifer Hale remains so much better would be the only thing that hasn't changed.

Back to OP.

Kinect, as I have been led to believe within this thread, has already been confirmed to not be present within the glorious embodiment of the death of my social life, and it should remain outside of all further games that are ever to grace my console.

As another poster also said, the best games on the Wii did not use, or lightly used, the motion controls. Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which I used my GC controller for, Wii Sports, which admittedly did use the controls, but was FREE, and finally LoZ: TP, which inarguably rocked.

I find the vast hate for ME2 to be really strange. Yeah, ME1 was better, but ME2 was still a great game.

Odd.

They took a brilliant story and then defactated all over it.

Were it a stand-alone game, then yeah, I'd enjoy it. A lot. But considering the only real break away thing in Mass Effect was the story... and the conversation wheel, in fairness.

It would be like if Bethesda turned around and said 'yeah lads, we decided that background lore was too much time, so we took all the books out. Instead, enjoy some motion controls =)'

The technology behind Kinect is not just a cheap gimmick. The work Microsoft has done with facial and motion recognition makes great strides in providing new types of human interface that could revolutionize the way we interact with machines.

It also has [censored] all to do with video games and is currently being used in a way that reduces it to a cheap gimmick, and for most kinds of games it actually takes a significant amount of depth away since it actually restricts the amount of things you can do more often than not. I would never play a first person shooter with motion controls. Why? Because I've done so on the Wii and it [censored] svcks. If Kinect was used for Skyrim it would make the game an exercise in tedium and frustration, because it'd be damn hard to integrate all the things you can do into it. Stop being impressed by the "wow I swung my arm and my dude just swung his sword this is totally awesome doodz" factor already. It would add absolutely nothing to the gameplay experience and at a certain point you'd lose interest anyway.

This is probably the 30th Kinect thread I've posted these thoughts in, by the way.

You don't need to jump, you don't need to do jogging, you don't need to do any exercise. You can be sitting on your sofa and program the Kinnect-like device (not kinnect itself, as it may be not so powerful) to detect the movements of your fingers. Moving fingers is something you already do when play games.

Kinect in ME3 is still just a rumour though, and even if it wasn't they have already confirmed that Skyrim will not support kinect. Motion control is a silly gimmick, and one that will hopefully die out sooner rather than later.

This.

Motion control for Skyrim would be incredibly stupid. This is a hard core RPG not some kiddy game.

options are great. its not likly that enough people will buy a kinect + Skyrim that it would be worth it to bethesda. besides, motion control for tes would get so old so fast. swing your arm X 12 to kill bandits. sounds like a hoot.
