I thought it was terrible. Series just fell apart after the first one. Never matched the hype.

We appreciate the responses. Legion64, I am also a Geth enthusiast, which is why I always side with Legion. I will try to work on maxing out one or the other, and see where that takes me.

Doing some research, I learned that all the squad mates have a certain HTL rating, which stands for hold the line. That's before you fight the final boss, I am sure you are all aware.

Garrus, Zaeed, and Grunt all have the highest rating, whereas Tali and Thane have the lowest. I will try to adjust my squad accordingly.

I enjoyed the game, I used the Mahem mod for the ending, which actually made it decent.

ME2...felt more like ME1.5 in terms of the story.

Contrary to what t seems like, most people enjoyed ME3. Personally, I think it was solid all the way until the ending. The gameplay was excellent imo, especially at the highest difficulty. The ending was okay at best(I only played the revised ending). I already knew Bioware wrote themselves into a corner, I wasn't expecting them to pull off the best ending ever or something.

ME3 is what happens when something gets overhyped and doesn't live up to it. Decent games on their own, but they got hyped a lot and a lot of people got mad about the end result. I don't really sympathize much with them though after their whole uproar. These are games. Gamers are a fickle and very entitled bunch, but talk about over dramatic.

I love ME3.

This thread just made me start a new playthrough of Mass Effect. and I'm playing as a male character for once. I hate the voice of male Shepard but I will do this playthrough for Tali.

I enjoyed it. I had no problem with the ending after the extended cut. The only thing that has irked me about the third game is how choices you made throughout the series are just thrown out (ex: Udina becomes council, Rachni still alive despite killing them, etc.). There was also the increase lack of dialogue choice for Shepard.

Overall, after each game it felt like the series WAS descending into more of a shooter. An enjoyable one at that however. Still, I was so devoted into the characters and the universe that I could tolerate it.

I really enjoyed Mass Effect 3, though I it was defiantly weaker. I was upset with the handling on Cerberus and the Illusive Man - it was a bit of a cop-out to give him the same send-off as Saren. It would have made for a more compelling plot if he were not indoctrinated, or at least, not directly, but completely emfatuated with the idea of placing humans in a dominant position in the galaxy so much that he would try and control such a destructive force. It would have allowed, at they very least, the characters to discuss how indoctrination works - is it necessarily imparted through that signal, or through the myth of the Reapers being designed to propagate through a species' culture. I think it would have been more interesting if the Illusive Man had been captured and out in trial - with Shepard gaining the option to persuade him to join Cerberus' resources with the Alliance, to execute him, and so on. Other than that, I figure storylines wrapped themselves up pretty well.

As to the ending - it was terrible, but they'd hyped up the reapers so much that there was little that could be done to make a satisfying conclusion without resorting to a "reaper off-switch".
