I cringed, but I'm withholding judgement until I get into the game and see how it plays.

I was afraid they were going to go this way, very disappointing indeed, but I guess I'll have to get used to it.
how do we know this? it seems like it could give the character more personality if they had 4 different responses per conversation, or more. Honestly i was pretty impressed by what saw, it gives it a more personal touch.
Now granted it could turn out horrible, but i don't have a problem with it just because they changed the presentation of it.
The shortened dialogue presented as options was something I loved/love (still playing) in Witcher 3 and was actually hoping F4 would pick it up too. So I'm happy in that regard. Not floored about the amount of options though. It's though and not much has been revealed so I'll keep an open mind.
bit negative buddy :/
Id imagine that i'll be more like
1 polite response
2 snarky response
3 aggressive response
4 pull gun and start a fight
I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt
i actually am looking forward to the new style honestly in previous games it was boring this looks more interesting
they were constantly switching back and forth between 1st and 3rd through the whole demo to demonstrate that you could do every thing in either.
The only truly negative thing about Fallout 4. Voiced Protagonist is a big NO NO, you will always lose dialoge and lose Choice as well. Not to mention that you lose the ability for what you would say in your head, instead it's a sole Survivor talking. It's a lesser of two evils however I still consider it evil.
I'm still very happy about Fallout 4 but this is probably the only negative and it could potentially be a huge one.
Here's what im thinking: Todd did say that giving players the choice and freedom was at the top of their list. He also said dialogue can be experience in whatever camera angle you prefer. And its a lot easier to take something away than it would be to add something.
By saying up front that you can turn off your character's voice if you don't want to hear him talk would be like saying "we wasted all this money recording and writing dialogue." He's going to try to sell people up front on it. That's my guess at least.
When it comes to dialogue, never give Bethesda the benefit of the doubt. Ever.
In addition, I think Todd said that an automatic switching of view is one of our options too. I'd have to replay the presentation to be sure.
EDIT: Nope, he didn't say it.
Personally I don't care. I just hope quest mods won't be oddly immersion breaking.
4 is for a typical conversation but you can see room for 8 (and 6 was shown at one point). My reasoning for correcting you is I really don't want everyone judging the dialogue system before the game comes out. Listen to me, you have no idea what it's going to look like until you get the game. Stop theorizing about how bad it's going to be, whats written in the dialogue is a lot more important than the interface.
