I think Bioware has done pretty well with around that many responses.

I don't see it as bad. I like it so long as we have a voiced actor which helps. I like Mass Effect more than Fallout so to me its a step in the right direction. We all have our own wishes for what we want for this game and bethesda is again blowing past the expectations I had so far, but we still haven't gotten our hands on the disk yet.

People seem to forget that Bioware worlds were not at all dynamic. They were not open worlds and as such conversation choices were plenty because developers could keep track of exactly what they changed in the world.

This game truly is massive. I really have not played a game where every single object plays a purpose, from what they have shown.

I am fine with this dialogue choice system because, believe it or not, games still rely on "suspension of disbelief" mechanisms. You do not have to eat or take a dump, or pee. You don't have to sleep at all costs. So it would be difficult to span the entire spectrum of human emotions in a video game conversation, let alone one as gargantuan as this.

Stop moaning.

Fallout is supposed to feature an open world without a linear storyline. Bioshock doesn't feature either of those things.

Bioshock also features a specific main character. You don't develop that character as much as you make a few choices in a story that's already been set in stone.
Fallout is different. YOU are supposed to be the main character in Fallout. That's why the protagonist never spoke. YOU were supposed to be the protagonist.
.. now you can't be. And you are severely limited in dialogue options while developing your character.

You already have Mass Effect though. Why do you want Fallout to be just like Mass Effect?

Fallout should be Fallout, not Mass Effect or Witcher 3 or Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Doesn't change anything. Mass Effect and Dragon Age are no different. They are nothing like Fallout. You cannot compare the two. When something works in one, it may not work in the other.

But it still might work in Fallout 4. We haven't played it yet.

A few complaints here don't impact the millions sold on day one. It's not that bad guys.

.. which is why we're complaining. Bethesda should have been making another Fallout game, not Mass Effect in the Fallout universe.

Fallout 3 was extremely well received, as was Fallout: New Vegas. Why did they have to change so many of the primary characteristics of the franchise? Fallout doesn't need a voiced protagonist just like TES doesn't need one -- they don't work for a character you're supposed to be developing from scratch.

Fallout is an RPG, or it should be. You're supposed to have a ton of choices to make. Hell, Todd Howard even said as much in the livestream.. then he went on to show us only FOUR DIALOGUE CHOICES in a DIALOGUE WHEEL. A [censored] dialogue wheel. Really? That [censored] don't fly.

Just like only TWO VOICES. You want to have a black character? Asian? Hispanic? Too [censored] bad, you're going to sound like a white guy.

Todd just said they recorded 13,000 lines of dialog. Doesn't sound like they limited things too much.

13,000 lines of dialogue in a world bigger than Skyrim, and where each response by the player is spoken.

I'd rather have 13,000 lines of NPC dialogue than 5,000 lines of NPC dialogue and 8,000 lines of player dialogue (4,000 of which are for the female protagonist).

It was 13,000 lines for the PC, not total.

Well, I hope we don't just have four options to choose from per line, perhaps we can expand on it. But Todd just said each voice actor has recorded 13,000 lines of dialogue each, so who knows.

I loved it. But I also prefer a voiced lead char to a silent. The latter fits perfectly when I play Baldurs Gate, but not a game like F4.

Voice Dialoge will always limit things, even on current gen, Fallout 4 will be no exception.

So 13,000 less lines of dialogue for the NPCs. And unless you can get Troy Baker to work with you, 0 lines of dialogue for player created mods.

That's another thing, what's going to happen with mods because of this. I'm thinking and I'm a total novice when it comes to this stuff but your probably going to have to cut the voice dialoge of the main character and convert it to text. It basically put's it back at square one.

Yeah i like how they claimed player freedom was number one priority, yet forced voices that will not fit a lot of the characters we make. You cant tell me a black guy, a raider who is a hevay smoker, an older guy who has seen some [censored], a computer dork will all sound like your generic 20 something white male, yeah really all about that player freedom.

I really do not like it. I know Witcher 3 does similar but that's because it is done right and has been like that since day 1. I like Bethesda games for my freedom, not to have another Witcher 3 or Mass Effect.
