Massachusetts House OMFG

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 7:05 pm

I just stumbled upon the Massachusetts house while following the trail for the railroad quest. I don't think the house is part of the quest, but I didn't know that then. The house seemed easy enough with a few ghouls, but then I hit a Mirelurk legend and just about pooped my pants. The thing killed my three times before I figured out how to sneak and frag the biatch. I thought that was it for tough foes, but I was oh so wrong. I hit another one in a basemant room with a small pool. I couldn't seak away form that one, but stood on a overlook and fragged the beast into submission. I jumped down and an MFing Mirelurk Queen popped out of that small pool and beat the living crap out of me over and over again. I couldn't run away because the damn thing was between me and my only egress. And having used most of my frags, I was oh so Fk'd. After sinking most of my ammo, stimpaks, radaway (the damn thing shoots radioactive goo from distance) and about 10 lives, I finally killed the thing.

JC, that was the hardest battle I've seen in a Beth game ever! And I hadn't a clue.

Ii am glad I saw this... I just left the game standing in front of the state house door, debating on going in. I encountered some Mirelurks last night on the southern part of the map, making my way toward Suffolk Elementary School and ended up treed, in a tree house will two Mirelurk... Warriors? Whatever the fast moving ones that spit acid are, plus a Mirelurk King and then a bleeping Legendary Mirelurk Killclaw popped up. It was brutal. I went through twenty stims because their acid attacks are nasty.

But uhm, since you are near the Massachusetts State House... did you happen to dip your toe into the old Swan Pond?

I didn't see that at all. Once I survived the Mass House, I quickly went back to following the *freedom trail* and skipped any buildings I found on the way. :bolt:

If you want a fun pants pooping mission do the one for the Museum of Witchcraft when it pops up.

Do it at night, with the lights off....;)

Nice! :goodjob: My next play through is gonna be a sneaky build. That guy is my first character, planned on trying to do everything with him before making a new character. ^_^

I used the Missile launcher that was in there, sneak out, aim for the head, one shot and then drop down the hole or duck back in the doorway and wait out of sight until she forgets about you, rinse and repeat. Took about 10 well aimed rockets (well maybe 6 well aimed and 4 crappy aimed) to take her down to a sliver of health and Dogmeat finished her off.

With good sneak you can apparently get past her, get the goods and get out with out having to fight

Nice. Sounds like it was fun. I'm doing more of a "charge in head first" build. A tank build if you will. Between me and Danse we clean house pretty effectively. As I said, my next play though is gonna be a sneaky build. I know full well just how OP sneaky assassin builds can be.**coughSkyrimcough** Can't wait to spook about though, gonna be a lone wolf for that play though, only Dog meat is allowed to join.

Yeah Dogmeat can be a pain sometimes when you are sneaking and trying to snipe with a silenced weapon as he will run out and attack sometimes and potentially pull in more Mobs.

Would be nice if you could set a "Companion Stance" Aggressive/Defensive/Free Will otherwise you have to tell him to stay somewhere

That biatch is OP AF. I finally just popped a stealth boy and snuck around her to the door. I couldn't kill her with my stealth PC on very hard.

LOL!

Well, you're in for a treat if you think this was the toughest. I wouldn't ink it in your top spot just yet. ;)

You guys & gals are all so trigger happy. Just shoot her with the pax syringe, or mind cloud. She becomes a docile pet - until it wears off.

Don't fear anything which can be drugged ;)

I'm playing a stealthy character now. It does consume the real-time clock sneaking about the wasteland, sniping the rabble. But when the jig is up, so to speak, it can be challenging to put up the good fight before getting slaughtered.

She sure is. But there is a technique you can use that works because she is so big. You can run, real fast, and hide behind the pillars that surround the room. Make sure you dodge out of the way when she spits her toxic goo, Then you have a few moments to pound her with bullets before her off-spring catch up to you and you must run to another pillar and start the cycle over. With practice you can actually defeat her while taking minimal damage this way.

But in the end, (most) everyone dies the first time they meet this OP Btch.

Honestly, that is good news. It makes the game more like the original Fallout games where death was like an old friend who kept coming by.

That's why I'm getting the easy mode tank build out of the way first. To fully learn the "in's and out's" of the game. Then once that character finishes his quest I'll start a stealth build. I'm half tempted to go full on ninja and only use hand to hand and bladed weapons.

IF you think that encounter with the mama Deathclaw was tough. Just wait. There's tougher encounters....

Just a friendly heads up...IF you cross a mine where Raiders have set up shop be mindful of where you step. There's safety in the light :goodjob:

There is an option to have your companion wait in one location. It works quite well when sneaking around.

Nice tip. I put that syringe shooter in my loot storage and forgot about it. I'd take another look at that but the explosive shotgun and rifleman perks mean I can take one down especially when using a drum with 32 round capacity.

I had a few moments like this, the queen here, Swan and that deathclaw on top of that building with the garden.

It's not the toughest fight, but it is one of the first places to get jumped by a mirelurk queen. Perfect "Surprise, mother/father" moment.

I found Swan not too long after the Mass House, but he wasn't half the challenge of the Mirelurk Queen. You can just run and gun him to death in a short time. But he is a dozy never the less.
