Massachusetts

Is anyone else here from Mass that feels a little more special because it's in our home state? I feel like it is going to be so cool walking around places thinking, "hey i'm like 30 mins from here" or something along those lines. And its even better that it is the name of an achievement too.

Yea it's awesome. I'm guessing people in DC had the same feeling with FO3

Did your title get censored because of the synonym for butt within the abbreviation 'em-ay-ess-ess'? I really hate it when censors 'catch' the butt synonym within actual words like mass, class, assess, asset, assuage, assume, etc. Anyway, back on topic, I imagine some people will enjoy seeing familiar sights. In GTA: San Andreas and GTA V, my brother and I thought it was cool when we saw our parents' former neighborhood in L.A. and familiar areas of San Francisco (Los Santos and San Fiero in GTA).

It makes the title funnier. How can you not laugh at M[censored]achusetts?

lol How the hell are we going to talk about this achievement if it's censored? Abbreviations? Either way, the thread is likely to get locked or renamed. I think the admins get touchy with censored topic names.

Eh, kinda. For me I only really felt it exploring the downtown DC area, with the monuments. I live in southeast DC.

Yes it did get censored for that word haha. no big deal. i thought it might be iffy, but it is an achievement name so wasn't sure. Anyways, i'm about 45 mins from Boston so it feels awesome. I'm next to Worcester so i really am hoping for a DLC with Worcester in it, such as The Pitt in FO3. Or have it be already accessible through some sort of transportation. It is one of the biggest cities in the area and has a ton of potential.

I often don't like games when they reproduce real life places that you know every corner of because they often are disappointing. For example, several times games have "reproduced" the famous city of San Francisco, California and since I live here, I realized how ridiculous their "summary" of San Francisco is - even the famous Golden Gate Bridge is done pathetically, not very accurate.

But with FO4 or any other post-apocalyptic scenario, this issue won't matter as much because everything is almost outside down, destroyed, and decrepit. Thus comparisons of a well known street or landmark that you frequent in real life vs the ones reproduced in game, won't matter as much - as least to me.

I live in Georgetown which is around a half hour drive from Boston, it's probably a stretch that I'll see anywhere close to where I live, but I hope I'll recognise some places even after post apocalyptia

I am fairly close to DC so it's a bit how a felt when fallout 3 released especially when I roamed into the national mall. I am hoping they have some of the stranger landmarks present in the Boston wasteland. I'd go even farther to say Boston has way more unique locations than D.C.

I hope Bethesda took some of the sites that are great listed on Atlas Obscura.

I promise it's way better in real life, heck it's the best place in America. I also believe it will have more unique places than DC FO3. Although DC has all the historical monuments and museums, Boston has many different landmarks, such as paul revere statue, fenway, statehouse, MIT, museum of freedom which have all been shown, and others like the many large ships, major colleges, and just a great history setting. Hopefully they nailed the great feel of Boston.

It is because you did not bow down and worship the censor gods before making your post... you have angered the censor gods and they demand payment!

I lived in Las Vegas for six years, so seeing that area in New Vegas was a bit strange at times. I'd imagine Fallout 4 would be a strange experience for many Massachusetts residents too.

If I lived in Las Vegas, I would have been dead, broke, and/or strung out on hokers and blow within a month. 6 years is impressive.

*sigh* I really miss my 20's sometimes...

I'm hoping (although not really expecting) that someone took the time to actually look up the MBTA routes, and they'll have the subways in the game actually follow them. Maybe even kind of look like them (after 200 years of decay, of course. ...In some cases that would probably be an improvement... ;) )I live, oh, about 30-45 minutes north of Boston, but I've been in and around the city. I won't recognize the average street as well as people who've lived there, I'm sure, but still having the game set there does feel like it's being "brought home" to me in a fun way.

It must be so cool having a game set in your local area, unfortunately it seems that on the rare occasions games are set in the UK, it will be London. The only games i can think of that have my area are grand strategy games such as Total War and Crusader kings.

If i remember correctly Boston is different from other US cities, in that it is shaped less like a grid and more like a European style city with squiggly streets.
